Gunnedah hosts an eight-race card on Monday, as punters aim to claim early bragging rights over the bookies in Everest week.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and fine weather is forecast for the north-eastern NSW town.
The rail is in the true position which will favour those on-pace early in the piece, before evening out later in the day.
From the stewards
The horse who stands out in the pre-stewards report is Our Cousin Al in race 4.
The Redente gelding came from the back of the field at Port Macquarie to finish fourth last start.
Further analysis of the replay and stewards report reveals how good that run was.
He trailed the field throughout that run after starting slowly, and was under hard riding for the entire event.
For this clash, he obtains the services of a strong rider in Aaron Bullock which is a big plus.
Expect a sharp improvement at his second career run.
Gunnedah Race 8 Tip #11 Miss Scalini $8.50
We have to wait until the last race of the day for the best bet, but it will be worth it.
Last start at Tamworth, the Magnus mare did a fair bit of work early and ended up sitting outside the leader throughout the event. She was entitled to weaken late, though she only finished 1.2 lengths off the winner in seventh.
She stays at the 1400m for this clash which is ideal and she is much better suited from the inside draw in barrier 2.
Dylan Gibbons claims the 3kg, which has her nicely weighted at 53.5kg. Gibbons is expected to go forward and make his own luck up on speed.
Now at peak fitness with the light weight and from a good draw, Gibbons can lead them up and give us a good sight at juicy odds.
