Cups contender crunched
AAPTagged: Horse Racing Tips
Punters are shopping early at both key venues in Australia this week, with a number of high-profile runners attracting heavy support.
At Flemington, the Cup’s hype horse has been backed off the map to win his first up Group 1 assignment.
Whilst at Kembla, a gun 2YO returns to embark on a 3YO season which promises plenty.
Don't be surprised to see more money come for the below horses as we approach the jump.
Flemington Tips
Finance Tycoon
The stable switch says it all here!
Danny O’Brien will be desperate to show his worth, following the horse’s arrival from the Hayes camp.
I doubt he'd be running here if he wasn’t cherry ripe and you can expect them to show plenty of intent.
Could simply blow them all away.
King Magnus
Bumps into the star gelding Ayrton in this, however he can hold his own and did go up big odds initially.
From a wide draw he can find the moving line with cover, which could be the place to be on Saturday.
He was only narrowly beaten by Ayrton last start and if the favourite is slightly off his game, expect him to take advantage here.
Incentivise
Potential superstar who has been transferred to the Peter Moody camp to chase the Cup’s dream.
I expect Moody to be very keen to make an impression with him here and should have the horse ready to win.
The move suggests he must be working well and that there will be no issues first-up.
Skyman
Featured in this column last week when only just missing by 0.1 lengths at Moonee Valley.
Back to Flemington (3:2-0-0) for this suits, where he should again relish the wide-open spaces and longer straight.
The last start run was full of merit and we can certainly give him another chance this week.
Kembla Grange Tips
Mankayan
Has been racing well and jumps up to a more suitable 2400m (7:2-4-0) for this.
He was charging home at this track last start over 2000m and should relish the extra trip.
The fact Bowman stays aboard is a big tick, and you can expect him to give the horse every chance.
Toomuchtobear
Waller runner with not much weight (54.5kg), who had excuses here last start when never really clear.
Go off the two impressive wins prior to the latest outing, where he raced handy to the speed and was strong through the line.
Given more luck here and now rock-hard fit, expect him to be in the finish.
Silent Impact
Typical Waterhouse/Bott on-pace type who is undefeated from 2 career race starts.
This will be his toughest assignment yet now up to stakes grade, however it is not the strongest Listed event you will see.
Expect Tim Clark to bounce out well from the inside draw (gate 1) and either lead or sit just in behind them.
Anamoe
Potential superstar who was ultra-dominant as a 2YO and resumes here with a big boom attached.
He must be working very well at home, as J Mac would have had first pick of most of these and is likely to have been riding him in work.
Small query as to whether 1200m may be too short, however his quality should negate this, and will carry him a long way.
