Racing is back to Sha Tin in Hong Kong today, with a 10-racecard consisting of 2 all-weather races and 8 on the turf “C” Course.
It has been raining recently in Hong Kong, but luckily the weather forecast is for a fine day today.
The Chevalier Cup (Race 7) is the highlight for the day, 12 horses will be competing in this Class 1 race over 1600m.
Excellent Proposal and Butterfield will enter the HKIR next month in Hong Kong Mile and Hong Kong Vase respectively. They will both carry top weights in the feature race today.
The Rock trained by Caspar Fownes looks an interesting runner in the field as he returns to Sha Tin after 2 good runs at Happy Valley. Vincent Ho will be on board.
Other horses worth mentioning are the two 3YOs in Race 10, Find My Love (ex. Find) and Atomic Beauty (ex. Atomic Jones). Both of them bring great form from Europe.
Sha Tin Race 4 #4 Accelerando $2.30
After turning 4YO, Accelerando seems a different horse in terms of physical appearance, he improved a lot in this season.
This John Size-trained gelding caused an upset on his seasonal debut to break his maiden under Alexis Badel. He beat Oscar Glory and Pakistan Friend.
Last time, he didn’t have a clear run and it was too late for him to accelerate, so he ran 3rd behind Turquoise Alpha and Let’s Do It by a short margin.
Zac Purton takes the ride this time, along with an impressive barrier trial at Conghua. He is able to overcome the wide draw and win again.
Sha Tin Race 8 #5 Powerful Wings $4.40
After 9 starts in Hong Kong, Powerful Wings scored 4 placings over 1600m at Sha Tin after adding the blinkers, he was always unlucky to win.
It should be a good chance for him to have a breakthrough today because Hugh Bowman will be riding. He is a suitable jockey for this horse as a backmarker.
Hugh Bowman has had a good start in his short-term riding period in Hong Kong. He won the jockey challenge last Wednesday at Happy Valley, but he also had a winner at Sha Tin last week.
He rode Powerful Wings to have a good barrier trial on 18th November, the horse is now fit enough and they are all ready for racing or even winning.
Sha Tin Race 6 #2 One Voice $4.00
Adios got off the mark last time with a determined win over course and distance last month.
The Frankie Lor 4YO is on a career high mark but opens to loads of improvement on only his fourth run.
Vincent Ho keeps the ride and they break from an ideal barrier.
In an open race the main dangers include Ching and Millennium Falcon.
Ching was desperately unlucky last time and is well drawn to go one better.
Sha Tin Race 9 #7 Beauty Eternal $2.20
A superb race with the hot favourite Superb Capitalist who routed his field on debut in a fast time.
Despite a tricky draw in 10, I'll take Beauty Eternal to win under Zac Purton.
The John Size 4YO won on debut in style but the unluckiest of horses next time when 3rd to Science Patch.
He really should be going into this race unbeaten but has an opportunity to return to the winner's circle.
Superb Capitalist is a massive danger under Angus Chung.
