04/11/21 Deane Lester tips & best bets for Oaks Day at Flemington

Oaks Day marks the third day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington, with the 2500m Group 1 Kennedy Oaks highlighting the nine race card.

The weather is fine, the track is rated a Soft 6 and the rail is out 5m for the entire circuit.

Deane believes as long as we don't receive any more rain this morning, the track will play fair. 

 

Flemington top pick

Deano's best play for the meeting comes in Race 2, a 1600m event for fillies and mare 3YO's & Up.

 

Tip is #2 Foxy Frida.

The Andrew Noblet trained mare races third-up today.

Deane expects the mare to turn the tables on Sirileo Miss today, after her rival beat her by 2.25 lengths first-up at Sandown over 1400m. 

Foxy Frida gets a 2kg swing today, and she has a great record at Flemington (3:2-1-0).

You can expect the Melbourne form to trump the Sydney form in this clash.
