Punters fly in crunch month

The month of October is when the racing season peaks, bringing out the best in our equine athletes, jockeys and trainers.

It's also a month when horse racing tipsters aim to peak, as they hope to put their name up in lights and fill their wallets with a Spring Carnival Group 1 scalp.

In both the highest cash profit and highest profit on turnover categories for October, it was the punters who took out all three spots on the podium. The media experts weren't far away though.

Read on to see who claimed the top gongs and which media experts were on song.

Highest Cash Profit

With a breathtaking $21,190 in cash profit from $100 win bets, Formulator was by far-and-away the best performer in October.

Regular readers will be familiar with Formulator, who has long been one the best tipsters on theGreatTipOff.com.

In fact he currently sits on an all-time cash profit $43,370, which easily takes him to the summit of the all-time profit leaderboard.

Formulator's betting strategy is all about searching for the value.

While his all time strike rate of 10% may not raise any eyebrows, the winners that he does jag more than make up for it.

In the middle of October whilst every man and his dog was focused on the lead up to The Everest and Caulfield Cup, Formulator was busy studying form at regional Victorian and NSW tracks.

He clearly found something the bookies missed. The veteran backed $70 winner The Red Sea at Moe before doing the unthinkable and trumping that effort the very next day with $171 pop Random Factor at Taree.

It was one of the most astonishing tipping displays ever witnessed at theGreatTipOff.com.

Formulator's fill-up

It was Milko27 who came away with the silver medal for most cash profit in October.

Milko27 hails from the picturesque Cowra in country NSW, but that doesn't mean he only knows about the local racing scene.

In fact, this punter picked 63 winners in October, which remarkably came from just about every track in Australia that you could think of.

These winners generated a cash profit of $8,990 from $100 win bets.

Not bad at all for a month's work.

The bronze medallist for October was CMan1995, who ended up with $7,130 in cash profit from $100 win bets.

While he may be young in years, this punter was tipping with all the wisdom of a seasoned veteran in October.

He managed to find 58 winners at a juicy average price of $7.87.

What's more is that this punter has carried on with it, notching up some great recent form.

He's now tipped a profit in 7 out of his past 10 tipping days.

CMan1995 is looking like he'll finish the year off with a bang.

Highest POT

It comes as no surprise that Formulator also secured the gold medal for highest POT.

What is surprising is just how high his POT ended up being.

At 706%, Formulator's monthly profit-on-turnover would have to be one of the highest on record.

What an effort.

Securing the sliver in the POT category was Kiwi punter Padro69.

His local knowledge certainly helped, with Padro69 tipping a handful of winners in races across the ditch.

This resulted in a 131% POT. The driving force between this impressive figure was his accuracy.

Padro29 tipped 10 winners at a strike rate of just under 50%.

In fact, 7 of his last 8 selections have all saluted.

This punter clearly knows his stuff.

The third place-getter was Baz122, who secured an impressive 101% POT.

This was generated by 6 winners at a phenomenal average price of $17.72.

What makes this effort more special is the fact that this Victorian only placed 53 tips across the whole month.

And having already secured a silver medal in June, Baz122 is putting his hand up as one of the tipsters of 2019.

Best Media Experts by POT

There were some top performances from the media experts in October.

RSN's Brendan Delaney missed out on the podium by a whisker after securing an impressive 92% POT. From his 25 tips throughout the month, 8 saluted at an average winning price of $6.00.

Steve Moran had a month to remember after his tips yielded 74% POT. His 10 winners included the Caulfield Cup winner Mer De Glace and Cox Plate winner Lys Gracieux.

It was also a good month for SKY Racing, with three analysts from their stable finishing in the top 5 media experts for highest POT.

Race callers and proud cane toads Tony Wode and Russell Leonard proved the value of local knowledge, reeling in pleny of profits for punters in northern Queensland.

Whilst Adam Olszanski rounded out the top 5 with 19 winners yielding 43% profit on turnover.
