Newcastle Race 2 Tip #3 Sharapova $4.00
This mare by Sebring was dominant when breaking her maiden first-up, before contesting a strong BM70 at Rosehill Gardens a fortnight ago.
That was a decent jump in grade and whilst she had excuses in the run, she found the step up to 1400m a little too much.
The following form switches point to her giving a big show here:
- she gets back to 1300m;
- she drops in grade to a BM64; and
- she races against her own sex again.
After the 3kg claim for apprentice Cejay Graham, she looks well in at the weights compared to her nearest rivals.
From barrier six, look for Graham to ride positively and sit one pair behind the leaders. From there she should prove too classy for her rivals and put them to the sword late.

Newcastle Race 3 Tip #1 Adonis Victorious TBD
This gelding from the Jason Coyle yard caught my eye at a Warwick Farm trial.
I liked the way he made ground late on the speedy You Make Me Smile, indicating that he's going to improve through his campaign as he steps up in distance.
It was pleasing to see him lead all the way first-up and with natural progression, he'll be strong second-up.
Look for Jess Taylor to take this promising gelding to the front and lead from pillar to post.
Newcastle Race 5 Tip #3 Moon Panther TBD
Another horse who went into my black book after showing promise in his early trials, but unfortunately failed on debut and was quickly put out for a spell.
The son of So You Think looks to have come back much better this prep.
He ran a nice second when first-up, finishing behind Love Delight after making good ground from the back of the field.
The second-up run was just as impressive. He took a forward position and was just overrun by Call Me Mo and Succendam, who have both gone on to notch up victories.
Now stepping up in distance and with fitness on his side, he looks set to fire third-up and should be hard to beat.

Flemington Race 6 Tip#3 Assertive Approach $2.20
This Hawkes trained four-year-old gelding is a beauty.
He won with ease last start to make it three from three and looks very well placed here.
He’s won on all track types so rain or shine, he will be hard to hold out.
Flemington Race 7 Tip #7 My Pendant $2.10
Damien Oliver looks to have a lovely ride and this four-year-old mare looks like a good bet.
She was sharp first-up and will have taken plenty from that run.
She’s a mare with plenty of talent and should be hard to beat here.
