We have a cracking 10-race card this afternoon, with 4 events taking place on the all weather surface and 6 on the turf “A+3” course.

It has been raining for the past 2 days in Hong Kong with further rain expected, as a typhoon simmers nearby.

The going is “Wet Slow” on the all weather track and it is “Good to Yielding” on the turf course.

Zac Purton  is suspended on Sunday, whilst Joao Moreira, Karis Teetan and Alexis Badel have 10 rides each. Aussie jockey Chad Schofield also has some good mounts and is one to watch.

 

 

Sha Tin Race 7 Tip #9 Gold Comet $10.00

Is a half brother to Dubai World Cup champion Invasor.

Gold Comet won a Class 4 race by 9 lengths over 1200m on the all weather track last season, showing great ability on the dirt.

The gelding has since had two starts in Class 3 grade, both of which were forgivable given he was without cover in first one and then ran over an unsuitable distance last time out.

Second-up for the season today, this 5YO gelding will race over his best distance and will jump from the favourable gate 6.

Before this start, he had an impressive gallop with Chad Schofield on board last Tuesday and is ready return to the winner's circle.

 

Sha Tin Race 8 Tip #1 Hongkong Great $3.60

Hongkong Great’s last season form was impressive, as he scored 3 wins and now holds the course record of 1650m on the all weather track.

He is a strong horse with good early speed and relaxes well in the lead.

At his recent barrier trial on 28 September, he led early and kept running on well to score under Karis Teetan.

Karis takes the ride this time and jumps from gate 1, which is good for this 6YO gelding.

The 1200m on season debut suits and I expect him to show good gate speed and prove too good.
