Feature Saturday Victorian thoroughbred action stays at Moonee Valley this week.

After successfully finding ‘Ima Shelby’ last Saturday at $12, we will be looking to repeat the dose.

Saturday is a nine-race program with the main course coming in race 8, the Group 2 Australia Stakes over 1200m.

Cindy Alderson-trained ‘Jigsaw’ is looking to make it 4 wins from 4 starts this preparation and is the $2.80 favourite ahead of ‘Snapper’ trained by Michael Moroney.

The track is currently a Good 4 and with fine and warm weather forecasted, that track rating should remain.

The running rail remains in its True position, just like it was last week when it was favourable to be up on-pace.

Found one last week, let’s find another winner or two again here today!

Moonee Valley Race 2 #2 Glentaneous $21.00

It is well worth following Anthony & Sam Freedman at Moonee Valley and this former U.K runner looks extremely over the odds in a staying race with not a lot of depth.

He ran a much-improved race last start at Sandown when coming on from the back to finish 7th and ran the 2nd fastest last 600m and 200m of the race behind only ‘The Nephew’ (who finished 2nd).

He steps up to a far more suitable distance of the 2040m here third-up and should be nearing peak fitness.

This is a much easier Benchmark-70 than what he faced last start and while he will get back in the field, he is drawn to be a solid chance in barrier 2.

Has won carrying big weight before in the U.K. and gets a solid chance to do so here and make it his first Australian win.

Moonee Valley Race 4 #4 Command Approved $2.70

After two terrific wins in NSW, trainer Matthew Smith has brought this 3YO Gelding down to Victoria to scorch around the Moonee Valley track in an attempt to make it a hat-trick of wins this preparation.

He was completely dominant in his first-up run at Wyong and then won comfortably again at Warwick Farm last start.

This race is certainly tougher than his previous two starts, but he has shown to be up to this considering his past performances and the times he has been running.

Gets a lot in his favour here drawn barrier 1, where he should lead and hold out his main rival in this race ‘Bistro’, and gets Blake Shinn aboard for the ride

Trainer Matthew Smith has a solid 17.7% winning strike rate at Moonee Valley and has a good chance to build on that even more here with this son of Spirit Of Boom.
