We are back and ready for another huge year of finding runners that are under the odds and excellent risks.
To kick of 2021, we have found two horses early in the day that punters should be avoiding at their current quotes.
At Randwick the classic “afterthought mentality” is at play again, whilst at Flemington a very ugly speed map should bring the favourite undone.
Both horses look grossly under-priced and favourite backers should tread very carefully!
Randwick Race 1 #2 Malkovich $3.00
The Bjorn Baker stable appears to be pushing on here, beyond what appeared to be the Grand Final last start in the Gosford Guineas.
As a result, I’m happy to peg this as the dreaded “afterthought mentality”.
He was very plain at Gosford, where he led before dropping right out of it late with no excuses.
I expect him to find it hard to back up for this clash, after being trained to peak last time out.
Look for him to be bustled forward in an attempt to lead once again. This race has plenty of speed drawn elsewhere and the likes of Triple Ace, Delacore and Dawn Too Good will apply plenty of pressure in the early stages.
Expect him to be very weak to the line late. Lay.
Flemington Race 2 #1 Zac Da Boss $2.80
The gelding faces a tricky speed map from the awkward draw in gate 7 and is a huge risk of being trapped wide, if they force the issue and try to find the top.
He is also rising in grade and has to tackle some smart ones in this, where his first try in a Benchmark 70 does not appear to be the easiest of assignments.
Look for Still Be Friends to get the gun run just in behind the leader. He is just one of many horses here who will be conserving much more energy than the current favourite.
Although the unbeaten record and back-to-back wins will sucker plenty in, this is a completely different set up and he looks well under the odds at the current quote. Avoid.
