Victorian horse racing takes place on the synthetic surface at Pakenham today, with a competitive eight race card giving punters plenty to ponder.

The rail is situated in the true position for the entire circuit and this track generally gives all runners a chance.

Rick has steered punters into 2 winners from his last 3 tips!

Now you can follow his tips without paying for them.

Pakenham Race 1 Tip #8 Heleva Deel $2.70

The daughter of Dundeel looks set to break her maiden status in this clash.

Two starts back, she finished third behind Foxy Frida who then went on and put in a terrific performance to win at Flemington on Saturday.

Last start, she finished third at Sandown so her form really lines up well for this synthetic maiden.

Ben Allen who has ridden her on two occasions is back on again and should position her midfield in the run.

Look for Allen to pull her into the middle of the track and finish over the top of them.

Pakenham Race 5 Tip #1 Jagged Edge $7.00

This former Queenslander who is now in the care of Clayton Douglas has raced in much higher rating races previously.

He won a listed race as a 2YO and last start when first-up, he finished seventh in a BM78. He drops right back to a BM58 here and will be better for that run.

Apprentice Ms Kiran Quilty will claim 3kg, which gets him down to 64.5kg. Whilst this is still plenty of weight, it's only 3.5kg more than his main rivals in the market and this clash is over the 1000 metre scamper.

Expect Quilty to push forward to take up the running and give him every chance from the front.

Keep a close eye on betting, as I can’t see this price holding up given the big drop in class.
