07/09/21 Best bet tips for horse racing at Scone today

We're off to the horse capital of Australia on Tuesday, with Scone playing host to a strong 7 race card.

The rail is out 3m for the entire circuit, with the track rated a Soft 6 as at today. At this set up, I expect a fair racing surface.

Scone Race 1 #6 Unzaga $11.00

This Paul Messara trained gelding ran well on debut, finishing strongly to the line over 1400m.

The step up to 1600m is ideal and there's no doubt he'll take natural improvement from that.

He opened up $16 and the early money suggests he'll be hard to beat, after being backed into $11 at the time of writing.

From barrier two, look for Grant Buckley to be more positive this time around and land one or two pairs back the fence for an economical run.

This is an open race and off his debut run, he looks a huge chance to jag a win.

 

Scone Race 3 #12 She's Contrary $2.20

Gee this girl looks a good thing!

Her debut effort was fantastic, before putting in a ripper second up when she was just defeated by the John O'Shea trained Smokeshow.

She put up a huge fight on the heavy track over the 1100m and will relish the 1200m third up.

There was a huge 4.36-length margin to 3rd and 8-length margin to 4th, suggesting the top two are horses to follow.

The main danger here is the debutant Montari, who to my eye only trialled fair.

With the fitness and class edge, this filly should prove far too good for her rivals.
