Hong Kong racing returns off the summer break, with a huge 10-race card scheduled for punters.

Sha Tin is the venue today, with all races to be held on the turf 'A' course.

The weather is warm and fine conditions are expected, with the ground expected to be good to firm.

Last season, Joao Moreira and Caspar Fownes were crowned the Champion jockey and trainer respectively.

This duo combined to win the first race on last year's season opener with Joy Master. Today they will have Formula Excel in the opener.

The feature race of the day comes in Race 4, The HKSAR Chief Executive's Cup over 1200m.

Naboo Attack, who won on debut last season, is a good chance with light weight.

Sha Tin Race 8 #7 El Jefe $9.00

Being a 6YO now, this son of Bernardini will be competitive this season.

Although he didn't taste victory in any of his 11 starts last season, his rating wasn't impacted significantly because he competitive in each clash.

Leading into today's race, he's had an impressive barrier trial at Conghua where he finished second after running without cover.

He carries 57kg today, which will allow him to show a good turn of foot.

Zac Purton is on board again and I expect him to race well first-up.

Sha Tin Race 10 Tip #6 Roman Turbo $7.00

Roman Turbo was a Group 3 winner in Ireland before coming to Hong Kong.

He put in some consistent performances since landing on these shores, scoring a win and placing 5 times from his 9 starts last season.

This son of Holy Roman Emperor is now a 4YO and needs some strong runs to line-up in the 4YO Classic series later this season.

Zac Purton takes the ride for the first time. He was on board the horse in a barrier trial last Saturday and has since galloped him well on Thursday.

Jumping from gate 8 here is perfect for him to land midfield with cover.

He ticks plenty of boxes and looks set for a big run.
