Eagle Farm Race 1 Tip #3 Fiorente Star $2.50

This 5YO gelding has been up for a while and hasn't managed to break through maiden grade yet.

He has already had 8 runs this campaign and his most recent effort was clearly his best, where he finished fourth to Victoria Park.

The form-lines out of this race have been strong. Victoria Park has since won again and third place-getter Vitesse Francais saluted at his next start.

For today's race, trainer Barry Lockwood has stepped Fiorente Star down in distance to 1400M after a four week let up. This will have him sharp and ready to fire

Jockey Mark Du Plessis has already ridden him on three previous occasions and knows the horse well enough to get him in a position that will suit him.

From barrier 6, look for him to slot him into midfield with cover. This will allow him to balance up in the straight and break his maiden status in style

Randwick-Kensington Race 7 Tip #5 Nags to Riches $2.40

Looking to the final race of the card to take us home a winner with Nags To Riches.

This 4YO mare was absolutely airborne last prep, with brilliant performances in harder grades.

Her best efforts come when she's fresh into a prep, so the 2 month spell should have her primed for this assignment.

This was evident in a recent trial at Hawkesbury, where she finished second with minimal effort asked of her.

The mare sat off the leaders and absolutely cruised to the line under grips.

Looking at today's race and all the speed runners are drawn wide. With those horses going forward to the front, this will allow jockey James McDonald to hold a trailing position just behind the leaders from barrier 4.

With a positive ride and the experience of J Mac onboard, I can see this classy mare saluting today and gradually progressing into much tougher races over the spring.

Moe Race 8 Tip #2 Eaglemont $2.40

This 5YO Irish import had good market support on his Australian debut.

The support was justified as he put in a great run to finish third behind a handy type in Worsfold at Sandown over 1600m.

He will strip fitter for the run and the rise in distance to the 2050m second-up will suit him perfectly. 

He has to carry a bit in this, but he had plenty of experience lugging weight when racing in Ireland. 

The gelding maps to get a great run in the race and should be awfully hard to hold out.

Randwick-Kensington Race 3 Tip #10 Trifaccia $1.65

I’ve been a supporter of this girl ever since seeing her in the flesh on debut at Kensington. On that occasion, she ran a very good 3rd despite being caught off the track and racing extremely keenly.

Since then, she has placed in Group 2 company producing some extremely good late splits.

Her recent barrier trial at Hawkesbury was brilliant and I have her pegged as one of the horses to follow in the Spring if trainer James Cummings has managed to calm her barrier manners.

The barrier draw today is tough, however there is enough speed in this race with All England, Flying Squad, Why Doubt and Miss Glenn all having the capability to lead.

Trifaccia will settle towards the rear of the field behind this hot tempo and her class will go a long way to saluting here.

With James McDonald on board, this mare can go onto bigger and better things this campaign after a dominant victory today!

Eagle Farm Race 3 Tip #3 Mccovey Cove $2.15

This lightly raced gelding from the David Vandyke camp lines up as favourite once again after a dominant victory at this same track two weeks ago.

Last start he didn't get it all his own way and had troubles in the straight when being crammed for room.

He showed plenty of maturity to wait for the opening and when it came, he put the foot down in the last 200m to breeze past his opposition.

For today's race, jockey Stephanie Thornton takes the reigns and a similar game plan will be in action.

Jumping from barrier 4, look for her to sit behind Mccovey Cove midfield and explode after the final bend.

After backing him last start, I have no doubt this gelding can get the job done and make it 2 wins from his last 2 starts.
