04/05/21 Best bets for horse racing at Warrnambool

Victorian racing heads to "The Bool" for Day 1 of the state's biggest country carnival at the coastal town of Warrnambool.

The track is currently rated a Heavy 9 with showers forecast, so wet trackers will have an advantage.

The rail is in the true position for the entire circuit, with the inside likely to chop out as the day goes on.

 

 

Warrnambool Race 6 Brierley Steeple Tip #1 Bit Of A Lad $5.00

This guy is as tough as they come, having been challenged on the turn at his past couple of runs before blowing his rivals away. 

The Maher/ Eustice trained jumper did win at this track and distance last run prior to a spell, and comes here off two recent trials over the sticks. That will prepare him nicely for this.

He gives the rest of the field 5kg in weight, however he has the best in the business in Steven Pateman to guide him over the big obstacles.

He will be there when the race is on the line and should be very hard to beat again. 

 

Warrnambool Race 7 Tip #9 Vividredsky $23.00

This stayer from the Paul Preusker stable is a knockout chance given he is down in grade and looks well suited in this BM78.

He was unsuited last start in the Terang Cup, when he was dropping back in distance.

Prior to that run, he finished 1.5 lengths second to Fanciful Toff over 2400m at Bendigo in a BM84 which is a strong enough form line.

Jockey Christine Puls, who steered him to victory four starts back, is back on board again which is a positive sign.

Look for Puls to settle back into the second half of the field and make a sustained run before the turn.

Here's hoping he can get us the win at bolter's odds.
