03/05/21 Horse Racing Tips for Gunnedah

We head to north-west NSW today, with a competitive 8 race card set to play out at Gunnedah.

The track is currently rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 5m from the 1400m-550m and true for the remainder of the circuit.

With fine weather forecast, punters should expect the racing surface to play fair across the day.

 

 

Gunnedah Race 1 Tip #5 The Wayfarer $1.95

Looking to get off to a flyer in the first with this Rodney Northam trained galloper.

His last start second behind Pacific Ocean at Gosford was good enough to have him winning this. 

The step up to 1000m is ideal and from barrier 1, he can lead or sit on the leader's back for the run of the race.

The experienced Grant Buckley takes the ride aboard the son of Headwater, in what looks a sit and steer job.

There's no pat on the back for tipping one at this price, but I think he'll prove too strong for his rivals today.

 

Gunnedah Race 4 Tip #2 Toulon Factor $5.50

After an impressive first-up effort, I've been eagerly awaiting the nomination of this horse. 

The son of The Factor has really turned the corner in his last four starts and is ready to take the next step today.

His last start 6 of 12 at Dubbo over the unsuitable 1200m was eye-catching. From barrier 12 with apprentice Liam Birch aboard, he was restrained to the rear of the field and was unable to obtain clear running the entire straight. 

He was absolutely bolting and there is no doubt he would have gone close to winning with clear air in the straight.

The step-up to 1600m from the inside draw is perfect and he'll only need even luck to be fighting out the finish.
