02/08/21 Horse Racing Tips & best bets for today

Today's edition of free best bets heads to Gundagai, where punters have an 8 race card to dissect.

The rail is in the true position, with the track rated a Heavy 10.

Gundagai Race 2 #8 Trade Statement $2.90

This looks a genuine race in two, with the rest of the field unlikely to beat the ambulance home.

I've sided with the Heywood trained galloper over the Joe Cleary trained Pink Panther.

While Trade Statement is unplaced at his 4 career starts, he has finished 1.9 lengths and 3.59 lengths off the winners at his last two starts, both on Heavy tracks.

He'll be well suited by those conditions again today and looks set for an easy time of it on-pace. He loses the services of gun jockey Blaike McDougall, however Nick Heywood is a handy replacement.

Look for Heywood to push forward and make every post a winner.

 

Gundagai Race 3 #7 Pilipanas $2.60

This mare flashed home over the concluding stages at Nowra on a Heavy 9 last start and looks well placed today.

She meets inferior opposition and gains the services of Blaike McDougall.

The step up to 1410m won't be an issue and from the soft draw in barrier 4, I expect her to sit mid-field poised to strike.

There is a lot of deadwood in this race and Pilipanas looks like she's the only one capable of going on to bigger and better things.
