What a great afternoon of Hong Kong racing we have ahead of us on Sunday.

Sha Tin is the venue for a strong 10-race card, with the first two events on the dirt track and the last eight taking place on the turf ‘B+2’ course.

For the two 1650m dirt races, the barrier draw is an important factor since there is a turn right after the gate starts. History suggests that horses jumping from wide gates over this distance have lower winning percentages.

While for the ‘B+2’ turf course, all horses get a fair chance.

There will be occasional showers in Hong Kong on Sunday, but don't expect it to impact the racing conditions.

Zac Purton, Karis Teetan and Joao Moreira are the leading jockeys so far this season, with 8 winners to date. They have 10 rides each for this meeting and will be keen to maintain their momentum.

On current form and ratings, Joao has the best book of rides and looks set to win the jockey's challenge for the third time this season.

Sha Tin Race 2 Tip #3 Skyey Supreme $3.60

Skyey Supreme's breeding suggests that he'll be very suited to running on dirt.

He ran well on this surface over 1200m in May of last season, when he finished a solid second.

Last time out, he performed well over the 1650m on dirt where he overcame the widest gate to chase home well.

During summer, he went to Conghua for training and has returned a more mature and fitter horse.

Joao Moreira will be on board and if he jumps well from gate 1, he can win for the first time in Hong Kong.

Sha Tin Race 4 Tip #7 The Hulk $5.00

The Hulk was a Group 3 winner in New Zealand before he came to Hong Kong in August last year, and he should be competitive here at his current rating of 72.

This five-year-old gelding had a good warm-up in the season opener over 1400m at Sha Tin.

He jumped well in that clash, but Neil Callan dropped the horse to last. He showed a strong turn of foot to run the last 200m in 22.89.

Climbing up to 1600m from the better draw here will give him the chance to lead or sit on-pace.

This horse has flexible racing tactics and this race presents a big opportunity to breakthrough for his maiden Hong Kong victory.
