How did our resident tipsters fare?

Lays of the Day review

James Beeson saved punters yet again last week, with some of the most courageous lays witnessed in the popular article.

When he potted the two horses who were both paying under $2.20, many would've been questioning his sanity.

But Beeso was spot on with both of his selections, predicting their demise with precision.

He's put a line through two more runners this week, which you can find here

His first lay last Saturday was the $1.70 fav Bivouac in Rosehill Race 5.

Every man and his dog was tipping Bivouac on Saturday, in what was a tiny field.

Beeson noted that this Godolphin runner was well-exposed after his first up win, and because of an ugly speed map, was well unders.

This proved to be the case, as Bivouac battled to second.

Beeson's second lay was Vega Magic in Caulfield Race 6.

Vega Magic isn't looking so magical any more.

The short-priced fav was penned against the rail and never got on his Melbourne leg in what was a horror run.

Punters will certainly be wondering whether to give him another chance next time.

Free Racing Tip from Michael Gannon

Rosehill Race 1: #3 Girls Are Ready

Girls Are Ready certainly has plenty of upside.

She ran a solid race to finish 3rd, but was no match for the runaway winner Assault'n'bathory.

Free Racing Tip from Mike Johnson

Belmont Race 5: #5 Great Again

Johnson was confident that this son of Viscount was going to be too good for them.

He tipped Great Again despite the fact he was carrying an extra 4kg of his previous win.

It didn't matter though. He made every post a winner.

Free Racing Tips from Ben Beare

Warracknabeal Race 3: #3 Power Of Mandala

This galloper went straight into Beare's black book after impressing in his jump outs.

With two runs under his belt, Power of Mandala was ready to do something third up.

He delivered in what was a quality win.

Free Racing Tips from Matt Buckland

Rosehill Race 9: #9 God Of Thunder

On what was a very heavy Rosehill track, Buckland was confident this Team Hawkes runner would handle it best.

This was exactly the case, with God Of Thunder flying through the ground to take out the final race on the card.

Caulfield Race 6: #1 Ball Of Muscle

Coming into the home straight, Ball Of Muscle was in the lead and looked ready to go all the way.

He faded in the final fifty metres though.

However, the old warhorse was good enough to hold on for 3rd.
