Canterbury Race 3 Tip #4 Gentle Persuasion $3.00

On the short back-up here after a great run at Randwick last Wednesday.

She gets 1.5kgs of weight relief for this and from the good draw, she should be able to hold off the biggest danger in Happy Bubbles.

Bendigo Race 7 Tip #3 Prezado $2.90

Was excellent when resuming at Flemington where he just knocked up late.

Back in class here and with proven success second-up, he'll be up on-speed and be able make his own luck in the run.

Expect him to prove too good for these.

Balaklava Race 1 Tip #10 Once in a Lifetime $2.50

Impressed in a jump-out before heading to the races to run a solid second behind Graceful Star.

She made up good ground late in her previous start, which suggests the step up to 1600m is suitable.

Dropping 1.5kg and up against older company here, she looks to have more upside than the rest.

Bendigo Race 5 Tip #9 Global Sanction $7.50

This girl from the Grahame Begg yard impressed in a recent trial, against some well-performed gallopers in Kenedna and Bedford.

In that trial, the Sebring mare ran through the line well and showed she had returned in good shape off the back of a spell.

She will continue to improve as she steps out in distance, with the 1400m a sutiable task first-up.

The $7.50 is too good to refuse.

Free racing tips from Michael Gannon

Track comment: Canterbury is rated a Soft 6 with the rail out +8m the entire circuit. Rails in the run are key here.

The best going on a soft track has proven to be 6-8 lanes off a true rail.

Canterbury Race 1 Tip #2 Nicco Lad $8.50

This gelding by Niccoin flashed home running an eye-catching second when first-up over the unsuitable 1100m trip.

Stepping up to the 1250m is perfect and from the better draw in barrier five, you'd expect jockey Kerrin McEvoy to ride positively.

There is a distinct lack of speed engaged in the race, which will play into McEvoy's hands.

Look for him to steal some cheap sectionals before kicking clear on the turn for home and proving too difficult to run down.

Canterbury Race 2 Tip #6 So Taken $4.80

The Chris Waller trained filly showed her potential when running a 0.5 length third at her first Australian start over the Canterbury 1100m.

Off the back of two nice trials, this ex-kiwi did her best work late but found one better on the day.

Drawn perfectly in barrier one, expect jockey Hugh Bowman to sit off the leader in the box seat and enjoy the run of the race.

The step-up to the 1250m looks ideal and with even luck, she should be winning.
