Intriguing long price moves
Two winners landed last week between $5 and $6 giving followers of this column another tidy profit for the day.
It was hard to find our usual numbers of early market movers this week. Could a betting operator's popular Friday promotion be forcing punters to wait until Friday to get the money on?
In any case, the below selections feature a number of interesting betting moves at longer odds at both key venues in Sydney and Melbourne. Best of luck following the money trail this week.
Randwick Tips from Early Market Movers
Bank Of Erin
Has been racing well on the South Coast and Canberra circuit where at his latest outing he finished 3 of 11 in Benchmark 60 grade at Canberra.
He deserves a chance in city Highway class and the money clearly suggests he is right up to this level. If the support in betting continues late, he would be well worth an each way ticket.
Music Magnate
Took on the Everest horses Redzel and Invincible Star last start and did enough to suggest he is well placed in this.
He maps to do very little work in the run and can find a position in behind the leading division, where if they clamp on the speed, he will be in premier position throughout.
Money appears to love the speed map.
I Am Serious
Duel acceptor who did have the option of going to Newcastle for The Cameron on Friday. The stable have instead opted to race at Randwick which is the stronger race and gives us a very positive lead.
She has to negotiate a tricky draw from out wide in gate 16 however will push forward in any case in a race that is devoid of any hot speed.
Respect the lead here to take on the harder Group race and any further push in betting would add confidence. Yes.
Flemington Tips from Early Market Movers
Music Bay
Adelaide raider who the shrewd Phillip Stokes yard have a huge opinion of.
She lived right up to he hype last start when finishing a close up 2 of 13 in the Listed Dequettville Stakes at Morphettville and certainly deserves her chance in Melbourne.
Gate 14 and the Craig Williams booking are both huge ticks, and this market move looks spot on.
Waging War
Was soft in the market last start in Adelaide before running well to place 3 of 13 behind the smart Theanswermyfriend.
He has to take on that galloper again here but will receive a favourable swing in the weights (5.5kg) this time out. Suspect that is behind the strong betting move here and with the narrow margin last time they met, expectations are for a reversal of the placings.
Excellent chance to topple the favourite.
Declarationofheart
The Freedman stable have reported there was room for plenty of improvement going into the first-up run and that appears to have sparked heavy betting market interest.
Has to take on a good one in Brutal, however does have a 1300m run under the belt versus the favourite who has not been out beyond 1200m. This provides a nice advantage when tackling a testing Flemington 1400m. Money looks spot on.
Merriest
Was an impressive winner last start at Moonee Valley when led and gave nothing else a chance in the straight.
She steps back up to stakes grade again for this and has good experience at this level.
With impressive tactical speed she will be sent straight to the front and attempt to slow them through the mid stages. If she gets it cheap will be kicking for a long way. Yes.
