With plenty of good horses returning for the first Group 1 day in Melbourne this week, punters have locked onto some high-quality runners in early markets.
Both Caulfield and Rosehill will provide excellent cards, where the early money suggests some first-up horses are forward enough to win.
For each of the below selections, be on alert for any further pushes in betting close to start time.
Caulfield Tips
Windstorm
Carries a huge boom after dominating the WA racing scene in weaker grade, as he comes into this looking to make it four straight.
The trainer and owner know the right type to aim at the better-quality Melbourne races, and you can trust their judgement is right again here.
He will get back in the run and given any luck, he should simply win.
Nonconformist
Could not have been more dominant when winning at Moonee Valley last start in Group 2 grade to round out the preparation.
Lightly raced (6:3-1-2) and never out of a place, he looks perfectly graded here first-up.
The stable are very shrewd and if more money arrives close to start time, he should prove very hard to beat.
Diamond Effort
There is a huge tip around for this smart mare, who was scratched last week at Moonee Valley and saved for this event.
She has won her past 4 starts in ultra-impressive style and loves the Caulfield track and distance (2:1-1-0).
Drawn wide will suit here and if she can slot in midfield in the moving line, there should be no stopping her. Yes.
Sircconi
Has race fitness on his side and the tactical speed to roll forward and lead, or sit outside the leader.
Last start here in Group 2 grade was excellent, when he only just missed (0.2 lengths) behind a smart one in Savatiano. That horse is well fancied in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes.
He can pull their pants down with the fitness edge and if the track is playing leaderish, expect him to hold on late.
Rosehill Tips
Dancing Gidget
Has a lethal turn of foot and if the speed goes on up front, expect her to unleash hell on them from well back.
She can be forgiven for the last start failure here at Rosehill (6 of 8) when not all went her way, after she was crowded at the start and raced keenly throughout.
Given a more charmed run in this, she can bounce back to winning form. Yes.
Academy
Was well supported ($2.90 into $2.50) to win the Coffs Harbour Cup last start, before placing 3 of 15.
He was impressive in that 1600m clash, considering he was held up in the straight and only just wilted late.
Now deep into his preparation and rock hard fit, expect him to roll forward and pour the pressure on throughout.
Doubtland
Is owned by a very astute Hong Kong businessman, who will strip trainers of his horses if the results are poor.
The colt has won at both career starts, where at his latest he showed plenty of class to race away with an emphatic 4 length victory in a Group 3 at Randwick.
Look for him to sit off a strong tempo, before cruising home over the top of them all late.
Overlord
This colt must be showing plenty at home to warrant the early support and he has been a big tip all week.
James McDonald takes the ride which is an excellent lead in itself, as he usually takes his pick in most of the Sydney fields.
The two recent trials should have him cherry ripe and if more money arrives late, expect him to win.
