Gosford is the venue for NSW Provincial racing on Tuesday, with an even seven race card for punters to sink their teeth into.

The track is currently rated a Heavy 10 and fine weather is forecast for the Central Coast region.

The rail is out 3m and at this set-up, expect jockeys to search for better ground out wide as the meeting progresses.

From the stewards

Olympic Gaze in race 3 is the one which stands out for me in the stewards report.

The Olympic Glory gelding looks primed for a mile following a mixed run last start at Wyong.

He was slow to begin in that clash, which immediately put him onto the back foot. As they approached the 400m mark, he was held up and did not obtain clear running until he was 100m from home.

Despite these challenges, the gelding made good ground late to finish fourth. All signs point to him eating up the mile here.

Jockey to follow

Sam Clipperton is the standout jockey riding at Gosford today.

Over the past 12 months, Clipperton has ridden here 11 times for 4 wins at a 36% strike rate.

He has 3 rides today, with his best chance coming in Race 1 on Orpheum.

I've identified 3-races on today's card that represent good betting opportunities.

Below is my best bet and quaddie numbers. For my full tip package and runner comments, click here.

Gosford Race 2 Tip #1 Shadow Colour $7.00 each way

The Hinchinbrook gelding gets his best opportunity to break his maiden status here at Gosford.

Last preparation Shadow Colour showed great consistency despite not winning, finishing in the placings in 4 of his 5 starts.

Although his lead-in trials for this assignment don't look overly impressive, there is little doubt he will be ready for this first-up run.

In form apprentice Tyler Schiller takes the ride and his 3kg claim brings him in nicely for this contest.

With the likely Heavy track, expect Schiller to give himself every chance by taking the race by the scruff of the neck and dictating proceedings out in front.

The gelding has form on the rain effected going and looks a great each-way bet at the $7.00.
