How did our resident tipsters fare?

Lays of the Day review

After bagging one of the best lays of the year a fortnight ago, James Beeson backed it up last week with another two spot-on selections.

Both of the horses he laid got done in yet another courageous display of tipping.

He's found two more to put a line through this week, which you can find here.

To see how his heroics unfolded last week, read on below.

His first lay on Saturday was odds-on favourite True Detective in Randwick Race 2.

Beeson didn't like the speed map in this race, with plenty of pace sure to make it tough for True Detective.

He also identified the "Waller factor," with all the mug money causing this horse to be well unders in the market.

And while it came down to a photo finish, True Detective could only manage second place.

Beeson's second lay was Masculino in Moonee Valley Race 7.

This gelding also finished second, making it two from two for Beeson.

The difference with this result was that Masculino wasn't even close to getting the win.

He finished three lengths behind runaway winner Inverloch, after Beeso claimed he wouldn't handle the tight turning Moonee Valley circuit.

Best Bets for Saturday races review

Our resident tipsters didn't have the best time of it with their best bets last Saturday.

However, with a shade more luck, the result could've been entirely different.

They're ready to square the ledger this week, with a number of their selections coming in for early market support.

To see their early mail for Saturday racing, read here. Or you can read a review of their tips for last Saturday below.

Free Racing Tip from Michael Gannon

Rosehill Race 2: #7 True Detective

Gannon was very impressed by True Detective's first-up run, where he went down by the narrowest of margins to the highly-rated Spend.

Considering True Detective dropped 3.5kg going into this run, Gannon was confident.

However, True Detective got done in the photo once again, in what was a burner for everyone who was on this fav.

Free Racing Tips from Ben Beare

Randwick Race 1: #6 Twice as Special

(Scratched)

Moonee Valley Race 8: #9 Tavisan

Many punters will be scratching their heads wondering how this Mick Price-trained gelding didn't win.

If the race was 50 metres shorter, Beare and his followers would've been cheering.

But two swoopers hit the line hard and edged out Tavisan by a neck.

Free Racing Tips from Matt Buckland

Randwick Race 2: #7 True Detective

Buckland also went with this red-hot favourite from the Waller yard.

James Beeson certainly has the bragging rights over both Gannon and Buckland this week after successfully laying this fav.

Moonee Valley Race 2: #3 Jedstar

Jedstar ran an unusually poor race.

After kicking out to an early lead, she dropped right out of it to finish last.

Early Market Movers Review

This long standing column uses our proven model to detect sharp moves in betting markets, after opening prices are listed for Saturday racing.

In other words, it identifies horses that the professional punters come for early in the week.

Often, this leads to plenty of winners on race day.

It wasn't the case last Saturday however, as the leads didn't give punters much love.

History suggests the market movers report doesn't take long to bounce back and you can see this week's selections here.
