3/8/19 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets Review

How did our resident tipsters fare?

James Beeson worked his magic once again last week, demonstrating his courage after potting the odds-on favourite for Saturday's feature event.

He warned punters that the $1.80 priced runner faced significant speed map challenges and declared him "the biggest 'banana skin' bet of the year."

And he was bang on.

Read on to see how both of his lays performed below and you can find his selections for this week's Saturday racing here.

His first lay on Saturday was Tavirun in Caulfield Race 5.

It was a brave call going against this runner, who was building a nice picket fence.

Beeson cited the wide draw and bad speed map for his reason to lay Tavirun.

But after a good ride, Tavirun continued his fine form with another win.

Beeson's second lay was the $1.80 Sesar in Caulfield Race 8.

This has to be right up there as one of the lays of the year.

With Sesar's racing pattern dictating that he goes back to the tail of the field, Beeson was confident.

That's because, with a wet track and the rail out six metres, it would have to be a mammoth performance from Sesar to come round them and get the win.

He ended up finishing more than eight lengths back in 6th.

Best Bets for Saturday races review

Each way punters would have walked away with some dough last week if they had followed our resident tipster's best bets.

All four selections found a place and with with a shade more luck, it could've been a day to remember.

See how each of their selections got on below and see who they're backing on Saturday here.

Free Racing Tip from Michael Gannon

Rosehill Race 3:  #2 Connemara

Gannon identified that Connemara's recent second place behind Notation was a good form guide, considering that the form had since been franked.

With a three wins on a good track, there was more than one sign pointing to a Connemara win.

However, she just fell short, with another second place finish.

Free Racing Tip from Ben Beare

Gosford Race 1: #9 Crete

Beare was confident that the step up in distance would suit this up-and-coming filly from the Anthony Cummings yard.

With the 3kg claim, she was set to run a big race.

That's exactly what she did, but she fell 0.3 lengths short in 3rd place.

Free Racing Tips from Matt Buckland

Rosehill Race 3: #2 Connemara

Buckland also thought Connemara was ready to break through for her first win this prep.

But she's proving to be a burner for punters.

She's now run three 2nds on the trot.

Caulfield Race 5: #2 Tavirun

Buckland registered a much-needed win for our residents tipsters with this cracking selection.

He identified that Tavirun was low-flying, and capable of recording another win.

That's what he did in what was a comfortable margin in the end.

Early Market Movers Review

There were two winners from the eight tips generated by our procen early movers model last week.

The good news for punters is that one of these winners was the horse that experienced the biggest market move.

That was Pat's Nipper in Rosehill Race 2, whose price firmed from $7.50 into $3.80 resulting in a massive 13% move.

The punters clearly knew something, because Pat's Nipper got the job done.
