Moonee Valley nuances at play

This week's speed map specials focus on two runners that should receive distinct favours based on their barrier draw position and tactical speed.

The tight turning nature of the Moonee Valley circuit heightens the importance of running position, and the two selections below can take full advantage of this set-up.

Moonee Valley Race 3 Tip #3 La Pomme de Pin $7.50

Has superior speed and will bluff most of these out of vying for the lead before they leave the mounting enclosure.

The gate is the key here where from barrier three, jockey Joe Bowditch can bounce and be immediately on the bunny.

This filly has been prepped up nicely in the lead up to this, winning a barrier trial with ease. Prior to that, she was on a Magic Millions path.

Being new to the training ranks in Melbourne, it's likely that Lloyd Kennewell has selected one that will go very close in an attempt to prove he's capable of mixing it with Victoria's best trainers.

If she jumps cleanly and controls it out in front, she'll give nothing else a chance.

Moonee Valley Race 7 Tip #12 Call Me Handsome $3.80

Draws the peg and looking at the speed map, the rider can choose to be wherever he needs to be, in what appears to be a race where the cover will come across from out wide if needed.

Look for jockey Chris Symons to tuck in for a trail on the back of Chamois Road and Jacquinot Bay, and be right behind the lead.

They should run along in front and this will allow plenty of opportunity for the rider to pop off the inside at the right moment or sneak up along the rail as the leaders drop off.

He has been enormous all prep and gets the draw here to capitalise and win. Yes.
