Punters warming up for Spring

This week sees plenty of betting moves in early markets at both feature tracks, Randwick and Caulfield. We cover the strength  and pattern of the move, and provide runner analysis for punters in this article.

Last week we struck twice in Sydney at Rosehill with the heavily supported Trekking and Flow both nice winners.

As feature racing ramps up across the nation, early betting moves are always a good indicator for runner performance.

Randwick Tips from Early Market Movers

Randwick tips from Market Movers

Panzerfaust

Is regally bred and arrives in Sydney with two impressive lead up runs this prep .

Two runs back she only just missed when caught wide, and prior to that won well when ran on strongly from well back in the field to chase down the leaders.

Trainer Paul Messara usually gets the pick of the Arrowfield home breds and the stable would have a huge opinion of this filly.

The money is on and she should go very close.

Raqeeq

Has been racing well and has proven popular in early betting at his last few starts, firming hard in the market on each occasion.

His normal pattern is to get well back and rattle home late which requires a genuine race tempo to execute. It appears he will get that here with the speedy Segenhoe and Sayed likely to run them along. If that pair cut at each other his chances improve significantly.

Has a touch of quality and can mow them down late.

Brook Magic

Should now be rock hard fit for this fifth up assignment and does enjoy the 1000m journey (6:3-1-0).

Last start at Rosehill led and showed plenty of fight in the straight to go down narrowly in a busy finish.

She will go forward again here, and with little-to-no pressure expected from other runners, could pinch it from out in front.

Early betting support looks warranted. Yes.

Oohood

Is dripping in class having run at Group 1 level at her past three outings where she placed in all.

This field is not overly strong, and although she has already been heavily backed in early betting, suspect she could start even shorter than the current $2.35.

Mick Price is a master trainer and would have the filly ready to go first-up. Should just blow them away.

Siege Of Quebec

Was recently discarded by Coolmore however Aquis Farm saw the value and snapped him up with a view to getting him to stud.

They could see a very quick return on their investment here if he was to win. The motivation to do so will be enormous and doubt Gai and Adrian would be running him unless he was breaking the clock at home in track work. Money suggests he is flying.

Kaonic

Dominated last start here at Randwick when the rider opted to use the fence and he shot up along the inside to win with ease.

The Chris Waller stable have always had a high opinion of this horse, aiming him for the big 3yo Group 1 features last prep.

This field looks pedestrian compared to the quality he has taken on historically and most would expect him to run extremely well.

Simply outclasses them again. Yes.

Miss Siska

Makes the trip from the Tony McEvoy Adelaide base which is always a good sign. This stable don’t bring them across unless they are showing plenty, and that looks the case here with a filly who has been running well all prep.

Suspect the professional betting syndicates have backed her due to the likely speed map favours where it looks likely she will lead with little to no pressure.

Can bluff them all from out in front.

Anaheim

Must be impressing the stable at home to warrant this heavy support in betting for the first-up assignment, where there does look to be enough speed engaged for him to be running on strongly.

He draws out, however runners including Thelberg and Redefine should bring him across and provide cover.

He looks to have a class edge on most of these and will be powering home late.

Tony Nicconi

Featured in this column last start with one of the biggest betting moves seen across the nation. He duly saluted giving nothing else a chance from on speed.

Betting suggests he will do it again and always have to respect when the money is linked to the Team Hayes yard.

Highly likely to dominate in the lead and win. Yes.

Pippie

Was strongly fancied in betting last start at Mooney Valley where she only just missed when running second.

The professional punters believe she can go one better here and must like the speed map favours she is likely to receive in a fast run race, where she will find cover behind the leaders.

Looks well above average and the money is spot on.
