Royal Randwick plays host to a nine-race card on Saturday, where the track is currently rated a Heavy 8.

The rail is out 9m from the 1600m to the winning post and 7m for the remainder of the circuit.

Showers are forecast for the remainder of the week in Sydney, which will likely lead to a track downgrade.

With this set up and under wet conditions, punters can expect the track to play fair in the early races before it deteriorates towards the back half of the meeting. This will favour off-pace runners, who will be able to peel wide to find the best ground.

Randwick Race 2 Tip #12 San Marco $16.00 each-way

This gelding by Smart Missile returned from a spell in nice style with a 1.8 length win, lugging 60kg over 1005m at Coffs Harbour.

His final run last preperation was an impressive victory over 1000m at Taree on a rain affected track.

It looks as though trainer Peter Ball has found the key to unlocking this runner's talent. Since his change of stable early last year, San Marco has had five runs over the 1000m, for two wins and three placings.

The step up to a class three highway here is a significant rise in grade. The booking of an in-form Tim Clark however, shows connections are extremely confident that he's up for the challenge.

Drawn barrier 12, expect Clark to settle at the back of the field and watch the race unfold in front of him.

Off a predicted hot-speed, the gun hoop will get a nice cart into the race allowing him to pull wide in search for the best ground.

For a horse that ticks plenty of boxes, the $16 fixed odds looks well over the odds and should be played each-way with confidence.

Randwick Race 3 Tip #3 The Enzo $26.00 each-way

Having a throw at the stumps here, with an expectation that this runner will be forward enough to be competitive first-up on a heavy track.

Coming off a spell and the ultimate gear change in a gelding operation, he's had good grounding for this race after notching-up two trials.

In his first trial over 745m at Randwick, he ran through the line better than any other runner. He then stretched out to 1050m and sat at the back of the field in a soft hit-out.

The key to his winning chances lies in the speed maps. The two favoured runners in this race, Sir Elton and Embracer, only know one way and that's to lead.

Other notable speedsters engaged are Rare Episode and Bare Naked Lady, who will both press forward and ensure there is a hot tempo.

From barrier six, an in-form Blake Shinn can sit three pairs back with cover to receive a soft run in transit. If the leaders go too hard, Shinn will be perfectly positioned to pounce.

Granted he's got some strong opposition to run down but I'm banking on the two favourites to bring each other down, which will allow the back-markers to fly over the top late.

Randwick Race 5 Tip #3 Bobby Dee $10.00

This Kiwi from the Baker and Forsman stable is rock-hard-fit now into his fifth start off the back of 43-day freshen-up.

His first Australian run came in the Group Three Grand Prix at Eagle Farm. He jumped well on that occasion, but was shuffled back in the field and was unable to bridge the gap over the concluding stages.

He then tackled the 2000m at Royal Randwick on a Heavy 8, where he finished third after running into a dead-end behind the leader on turning for home.

The jockey switch to Tim Clark is a plus and with a soft run from the good draw, and expect him once again be fighting out the finish.
