Best bets at Flemington

Melbourne metropolitan racing returns to Flemington on Saturday, where the track is rated a Soft 6 and the rail is situated in the true position for the entire circuit.

The forecast is for fine weather in the lead-up to race day, which will likely result in a track upgrade.

Punters can expect a fair racing surface, allowing all runners an opportunity to produce their best.

Flemington Race 1 Tip #2 Pop Queen $9.00

This mare caught punters off guard last start, when she charged to a 3.25 length victory.

Sent out a $34 despised outsider, Pop Queen was suited by the fast-tempo and wide open Flemington track.

She made up significant ground over the concluding stages and flew home over the top of her rivals.

That performance qualified her for entry into this race and she comes here as the only runner in the field to have saluted at Flemington.

With a rapid pace predicted, the speed maps have the mare positioned nicely once again.

If she repeats her last start performance, she'll be hard to beat.

Flemington Race 4 Tip #4 Last Week $6.00

This ultra-consistent galloper gets his chance to turn the tables on early race favourite, Chouxting The Mob.

The gelding has fallen agonisingly short to his highly rated rival at his last two starts, but gets a 2kg swing in his favour for this race.

The margin of defeat in their most recent hit-out was 0.7 lengths, but with the change in weights and winkers on for the first-time, Last Week looks set to get revenge.

From barrier six, expect Jye McNeil to push forward, get his own way in front and prove too hard to chase down.

Flemington Race 5 Tip #3 Rubisaki $2.15

This filly from the Patrick Payne yard impressed when stepping out to the 1400m at Flemington last start.

Now fourth-up, she is rock-hard-fit and looks well suited out to the mile here.

She has to carry 59kg against the boys, however that hasn't stopped the early money piling in for her.

Heavily backed from $2.60 into $2.15, the intent is clear from the smart punters.

From the soft draw in barrier five, jockey Jye McNeil will sit three pairs back with cover and save her up for the sprint home.

She looks a horse with plenty of potential and should prove a class above these.
