Randwick & Flemington tips from early market moves 7/07/18

Strong betting action leads at Randwick and Flemington

Last week five of our Market Movers proved the betting was right with three saluting at the Sunshine Coast and two at Caulfield. Of note was the massive price cut seen for Team Hayes runner Tony Nicconi, who this column reported opened $12 before being crunched in late to start with some operators sub $5.

A number of stables are more effective when the money is on and the Lindsay Park operation is one that fits this profile.

Using the best tote prices available to punters on Saturday the 5 winners from 9 selections delivered a healthy 129% POT. That makes it three profitable Saturdays on a trot for our report. Let's go for four.

Flemington tips

Think Diamonds

Those who secured the $8 on offer early may just be doing that, with this 3yo filly now trading at $6.50. The Anthony Freedman stable is in great form and know when to bet, draws well and looks a winner. Yes

Good N Fast

Stable got the cash last week with Tony Nicconi who was heavily backed and they may be playing up the winnings here. Was hard in the market here last start when won well and the money suggests there is no reason he won’t go back to back. When they back a Lindsay Park 2yo it usually pays to follow.

Big Hammer

Will have to come from the outside gate where Yendall will need to give it a peach of a ride. Stable love a bet and the Weir/Yendall combination statistics are always impressive. It looks like they went to Adelaide last start for a kill however just missed on that occasion, when a close up 3 of 10 and hard in the market. Can atone here.

Ozi Choice

Had pressure too far out last start when well fancied in betting and willing to forgive. Has an excellent SP profile where heavily backed at his last two starts which is encouraging. Will jump straight to the lead in this and if Frosty can rack them and stack them, should just kick away close to home.

Divine Quality

Impressed last start when running second down the straight here to Malibu Style. Her natural pattern is to get back in the field with cover, and from gate 2 she will have the opportunity to tuck in behind a field that is likely to come down the centre of the track, based on recent meetings. Will come with a rush late.

Randwick Tips for early market moves

Mizzy

The market likes what they see with this Anthony Cummings 2yo filly where there was no money for her first up ($31-$61) when she ran very well at Canterbury to finish 2 of 9. That was on a Heavy 9 and suspect the market is keen to gamble on one they know will get through the likely rain affected track at Randwick. Draws well and could lead from gate 1. Some very big ticks.

Roman Typhoon

These Highway races often see plenty of betting action largely because the form lines are often difficult to analyse and the early prices can be inaccurate. Roman Typhoon looks to be a classic example of this where punters believe the initial $5 on offer was far too big. Has sound Sydney form last prep and can come to hand second up here. Top hope.

Wide Spread Panic

It appears Gai has been spruiking to connections regarding the chances of this filly. She does love to tip the owners at times and can often jag a winner at odds for them. The stables preferred on speed racing style has plenty to do with this and suspect they will go forward and sit outside the leader with this fellow. That could be the place to be on a current rating of Heavy 8 at Randwick. Leading chance.

Seahampton

Features a favoured combination of Waller and Clark. In particular Clark creates interest when he is booked to ride anything, largely due to the respect his jockey manager John Walter has around the marketplace. John has analysed form for some of Australia’s biggest professional betting syndicates and knows the right horses to put Clarke on.  Has been fancied in betting his past few and looks an excellent chance again here.
