Doomben Racing Tips & Preview Tattersalls Mile 2018

Rare stakes race feature this weekend

 Steve Hart

Featuring Listed grade status, The Tattersalls Mile represents a rare race at stakes level across the country this weekend.

The race has attracted a high quality field for this time of year and will provide an intriguing betting affair for punters.

A few trainers here may be asking too much of their racing stock and it looks to be a greedy afterthought for a few.

Beware of horses who are deep in the prep and instead focus on the lighter raced types this time in.

Doomben is currently rated a Good 4 with the rail out 0.5m the entire circuit and fine conditions predicted for Saturday.

The race surface here has received plenty of negative commentary in recent months, however with Eagle Farm still out of action, the track has had to withstand a higher frequency of racing.

A close watch is advised early in the day to monitor any emergence of bias.

There have been no significant moves in early betting to note at this stage.

Horse Racing Key Runners

#1 Religify $9.50

Represents a handy profile for this race second-up and he will have more freshness in his legs than many of these.

Last start he was caught wide in Listed grade at Ipswich before finishing well back 11 of 12.

Is much better than that and expect this gelding to jump out of the ground second-up where the record is good. Top chance.

#2 Vassal $71

Does have some runs on the board at Listed level (4:1-1-0) and can build on that here.

He's another that disappointed last start when finishing down the track (8 of 10) here at Doomben first-up.

Willing to forgive and could easily atone here. Rider Glen Colless can overcome gate 16 and could surprise a few with a good performance at odds. Can place.

#5 Sheiswhatsheis $6

Is certainly the class of this field following her competitive campaign all throughout the Brisbane Winter carnival, where she mixed it with plenty of big guns and won once.

Slight concern the stable are asking for too much having one more throw here, especially considering she has drawn the carpark.

Far too much to overcome and is no value in betting at the current $6.50.

Has been up an eternity now and is an excellent risk. No.

#6 Princess Posh $3.80

Is absolutely flying this prep following a dominant win here last start and an impressive record of not being out of the money his past 4.

Draws well in gate 4, where jockey Michael Cahill will have him tucked in just behind the speed one off the rail.

From there he will represent a huge threat to the leaders in the straight.

Has been up a while now, however suspect this mare is one that can overcome the syndrome. Leading Chance.

#8 Ruling Dynasty $8

Has won his last two in good grade beating the smart Sabkhat on both occasions.

That form is sound and should be an excellent guide for this.

The money came for him late in betting last start when firming from $6.00 to $4.00 close to jump.

Although he is another that has been up a while now (this being his seventh start this prep), could certainly entertain if they backed him solidly late in betting again.

#9 No Annamossity $3.90

Has been heavily supported in betting at his past two, where he won last start here and prior to that ran a brave third when narrowly beaten.

Loves the Doomben circuit (11:4-2-3) which is very significant considering some seem to fall apart on it. Must go on top.

Of The Others

A Mist Opportunity drops back from what was a hot race in The Glasshouse at the Sunshine Coast last start. He was not too far off (5.65 lengths) when running fifth behind a number of smart ones including Jamaican Rain and Privlaka. Looks over the odds at the current $31.
