Scone is the venue for provincial racing in NSW on Tuesday, with a strong seven-race card to play out.

The track is currently rated a Soft 5 and with nothing but sunshine forecast, we'll be racing on a Good 4.

The rail is in the True position, which should lead to a fair day's racing.

From the stewards

The runner I want to mention in the pre-steward's report is Underboss in Race 2.

This Animal Kingdom gelding was bumped on jumping last start, before being steadied off heels which really halted his momentum.

Jockey Andrew Gibbons was then forced to work hard to maintain a forward position in the run. He faded late in the piece to run fourth behind Brook Hill, but given the circumstances it was a strong debut.

The wide draw is a positive from the 1400m, as it'll give him time to find his feet and work across under his own steam.

The blinkers come off which will help him settle and with even luck in transit, he can fight out the finish.

Jockey to follow

Of the jockeys riding at Scone today, Christian Reith has the best stats.

Reith has had 27 rides here in the past 12 months, winning 7 at a strike rate of 26%.

Reith is booked for 6 rides, with his best chance coming in Race 6 on Matowatakpe.

Scone Race 3 Tip #1 Melik $2.50

The $2.5 million gelding was entered for two races today and has opted for the easier of the two.

His first-up run behind More Than A Samba at Muswellbrook was solid, but a lack of fitness told late.

He'll strip fitter second-up and is well suited back on to a Good track.

From barrier 7 he'll land mid-field and can peel off them on turning for home, before accelerating away.

I'm confident he can get the job done for us.
