Saturday Racing Tips at Rosehill & Kembla Grange 16 June 2018

Josh Reed's best tips for NSW Saturday racing action
Steve HartRosehill
Saturday’s NSW metropolitan race meeting returns to the glamorous Rosehill Gardens for a competitive card, as trainers and owners attempt to map out their future campaigns.
The track is currently rated a Soft 6 and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.
There is nothing but sunshine forecast for Sydney in the coming days, so expect an upgrade and a luscious track come race day. With the rail in the true, each runner should get their chance throughout the day.
The selections below are two of my best tips for Rosehill, however if you'd like to see my full set of selections and staking plan for Saturday's meet you can get them here.
Race 1 Tip #1 Ronstar $3.50
This Zoustar gelding is going for three wins on-the-trot in the Rosehill opener.
At both career starts, he's showed plenty of tenacity by leading the whole way and fighting off the swoopers late.
He should get an uncontested lead from the draw and believe it or not, the best is still to come for him.
Taking on the 1400m for the first time shouldn’t pose an issue and trainer Gary Portelli has big wraps on him, claiming the gelding will make his presence known in the Spring. He will need to put these runners away with ease here for that to be a possibility.
Race 6 Tip #7 Dagny $3.90
The Chris Waller trained Darci Brahma mare is attempting to make it back-to-back wins after an impressive victory a fortnight ago at Rosehill.
She was significantly held up in the home straight, before finding clear running after the 300m mark. With nothing in front of her, she accelerated through the line to take the victory with Kerrin McEvoy finding it hard to pull her up after the line.
The 0.8 length winning margin was not a true indication of how impressive the run was and her finish should give punters confidence that the 2000m will suit.
She loves Rosehill and with McEvoy taking the reins once again, expect her to be right in the finish.
Kembla Grange
The NSW provincial meeting is at Kembla Grange this weekend and with fine weather on the cards, a track upgrade is expected from the current Soft 7.
The rail is in the 9m position from 1100m to the winning post and 6m the remainder, so expect a slight advantage to those on-the-pace.
Race 5 Tip #5 Tonsor $4.20
Matthew Smith trains this Redoute’s Choice gelding, who showed plenty of class at Kembla Grange almost a month ago. He sat on the pace carrying 59kg that day and kicked away to win by three lengths.
He has been entered for two meetings since then but was scratched on both occasions in anticipation of a dry track, which he will get on Saturday.
The draw is a touch awkward, however he possesses the pace to come across and sit where he needs to.
With even luck, he should be very hard to beat.
Race 8 Tip #1 Asterius $3.10
This Sebring gelding is first-up since February where he was impressive winning at Canterbury.
The gorgeous grey from the Waller stable boasts a powerful turn of foot, which is going to suit this long straight at Kembla.
Weight shouldn't be an issue as he carried 59kg in his lone win last preparation.
Drawn to get a good run and with the clear running in the straight, he is going to be mighty hard to hold off late.
