It was a fill-up for regular readers of this column last week, after 3 of the 8 selections identified by our proven model saluted to deliver 147% Profit on Turnover.

This included Man Of Peace who won in gritty fashion at Randwick paying a thumping $13 at the time of publication.

This week in addition to our coverage of the early market action at Caulfield, we have also identified the smart money flows at Doomben where the Queensland winter carnival kicks into gear.

Many high quality runners have made the trip north to race for stakes money and the coveted Group or Listed winning status.

Punters are out in force, and below we have highlighted the more pronounced price moves and what is likely to be driving them.

Caulfield Tips

Caulfield Tips

Lankan Star

Finished a close-up 3 of 10 down the Flemington straight last start over 1200m, when only beaten 0.5 lengths.

The start prior she won here at Caulfield over 1100m, and she'll be looking to repeat that effort back to the same distance.

The speed map looks ideal, where from gate 1 she can suck up along the inside the entire trip before pouncing late.

Ruban Bleu

Was hard in betting late ($7.50 into $6.50) last start, before finishing 4 of 12 behind a rising star in Alfa Oro.

The two runs back this preparation should have him fit and ready to fire, with the apprentice’s 2kg claim again assisting the weight burden (59kg).

He gets a nice smother throughout from gate 7 and should be presenting at just the right time.

Smoke Bomb

Is from the shrewd Mick Price yard, who rarely misses when the money goes on.

He tackles a stronger field here following the two impressive Cranbourne wins, however still looks highly capable of notching up the hat-trick.

If more money arrives late in betting, expect him to simply win.

News Girl

Has had her impressive last start Caulfield win franked by the second horse on that day Coruscate, who has since won well at Randwick last week.

She is an underrated sprinter who strikes another race that appears to lack depth.

Expect her to keep picking off these weaker off-season fields throughout the coming weeks. Yes.

L’Amante

Was heavily backed ($1.50 into $1.45) first-up last campaign and won with ease when coming in off a similar set up (one solid trial).

She is following the exact same path here and should be fully wound up and ready to explode.

From the good draw in gate 3, expect the rider to bounce her straight to the front and give nothing else a chance.

Star Of Michelin

Is lightly raced (9:3-1-0) and looks to have much more upside than many here, who are now well exposed in their careers.

The outside gate of barrier 9 should prove no issue in a small field and expect him to work across to find a position in the moving line.

He drops way down to 55kg and after carrying some hefty imposts at his most recent runs, he should relish the significant weight relief here.

Oriental Runner

This market has been affected by scratchings, however the move is still pronounced for this runner.

He was heavily backed ($4.00 into $3.70) last start at the Gold Coast and duly saluted in a good quality field.

This is another step-up in grade, however he appears to be thriving in the Queensland conditions after arriving from Sydney and can improve again.

Gotta Kiss

Has been a very strong push in betting since markets opened and continues to attract support.

She has been very carefully managed early in her career, with most runs spaced to give her every chance of peaking.

This race is likely to have been the main target all along and with what appears to be a meticulous preparation, it would not surprise to see her blow them all away. Yes.
