Punters are met with a solid seven-race card at Albury today, where the track is currently rated a Soft 6.

The rail is out 3m from the 950-400m and true for the remainder of the circuit.

The temperatures are starting to drop now as we head towards winter so despite the fine weather predicted, it is unlikely that the track will be upgraded.

Albury Race 1 Tip #1 Macgyvers's Me Mate $2.20

I'm looking to start the day off with a bang and am confident in the favourite here.

The son of Greenwood Lake raced under the same conditions when first-up and after doing plenty of work from the wide barrier, ran very well into second.

There doesn't appear to be much early speed in this race and from barrier 1, Brodie Loy can find the front with relative ease.

Being his second-up run we should see some fitness improvement and if he manages to repeat his last start effort, he should prove too good.

Albury Race 6 Tip #2 Zaberfeldie $4.80

Mitch Beer saddles up the three-year-old gelding by Zacinto, who looks like a nice type in the making.

The flashy chestnut's first-up effort over 1175m was super. He was posted three-to-four pairs off the fence the entire race and battled on gamely, only to be beaten narrowly into second place.

The winning formula for me is the jump from 1175m to 1500m. This should see Jordan Mallyon place him closer to the speed, ideally sitting in the first three.

Mallyon has a good record aboard this lightly raced galloper, who is 3:2-0-1 at this track.

He ticks all the right boxes and looks the one to beat in this race.
