Gold Coast Race 7 Tip #4 Milk Man $3.90

Believe it or not, this import ran third to Avilius in a French maiden back in 2017.

In more recent times, he was racing in Sydney before making the trip north and impressing in a BM90.

He was well backed in that hit-out over 1600m at Doomben, but found one better when going down by the narrowest of margins.

Now third-up, the rise to 1800m looks right up his alley.

Trainer Matthew Smith appears to have found a winning formula recently, having had success in QLD with Ilwendo who won well over the middle-distance range.

Matthew McGillivray is taking over the reins in a positive push to get this gelding back into the winner's circle.

I'm expecting the Milk Man to deliver!

Ascot Race 5 Tip #6 Laufey $2.40

Laufey is finally stepping out beyond 1600m and looks set to break through for a well-deserved victory here.

Throughout this campaign, he has run 3 lengths off the talented Media Baron and finished within 1 length of Utgard Loki who went on to win the Eurythmic Stakes. Last start, he was ridden for luck from a wide draw, before finishing 3 lengths off She's Alight who has strung together two in-a-row.

While he hasn't run a place in four starts this prep, his form-lines are strong.

There will be plenty of speed in this race, with That's Funny Az, Swift Platinum and Uncle Lino all set to go forward.

From the good draw, Pike will have Laufey midfield and appreciate the good tempo.

The gelding last tasted victory 13 months ago, in this class and over this track and distance.

With a gun run in transit, this galloper will be perfectly positioned to strike on the home straight and breakthrough for another win.

Flemington Race 6 Tip #2 King of Leogrance $2.50

The "King" gets in very well at the weights for this carrying 58.5kg, and I can’t see anything but a victory for him and direct entry into the 2020 Melbourne Cup.

Since landing on Aussie soil, he's always been a horse with plenty of hype around him.

His Spring campaign was solid, but he looked to have come back a whole different beast in Autumn after winning stylishly in both Listed and Group Company.

This isn’t the strongest Ramsden field and a few of the main hopes share similar form-lines, which give us a good read into their chances.

I’ve always held a high opinion of promising young stayer Dark Alley from the Paul Preusker stable. However, the last time he faced off against the King, he lost out by almost 7-lengths. In ominous signs for that horse, he now meets the Danny O'Brien stayer 0.5kg worse off at the weights.

I’m also not convinced that second favourite Too Close The Sun has the ability to run out a strong 2800m at headquarters. That galloper has been winning, but against far inferior competition.

I expect Runaway to cross from the wide alley and nag Too Close The Sun throughout the run. This will set it up perfectly for gun hoop Damien Oliver, who will be able to take a sit behind these two midfield with cover.

O’Brien pulled off a master training performance with Russian Camelot last weekend and I expect him to repeat the dose here.

I’ll be shocked if anything crosses the finish line before the King!

Warracknabeal Race 2 Tip #3  Hunka Hunka Harry TBC

This gelding ran super on debut, when finishing second behind Magnavale at Tatura.

He was posted wide for the trip in that hit-out, so he did a good job to stick on and battle through to the line. Magnavale has since franked the form by winning another three races.

At his second start Hunka Hunka Harry bumped into speedy galloper The Mobot, who has also tasted victory again after winning a BM70.

His two runs to round off last preparation were on rain affected tracks, so you can expect him to improve here getting back to a dry surface.

He returns to the races here following an impressive jump-out, and I expect him to breakthrough for his maiden victory in style.
