Sandown Hillside Race 1 Tip #1 Sartorial Splendor $2.20

This two-year-old colt has been hyped since day one, after trainer John Sadler mentioned he could be the best horse he's had.

He won well on debut at Terang, producing good figures in the process.

He then contested a very strong two-year-old race at Caulfield, where he tired late and was beaten by a very smart type in Prince of Sussex.

This is a fairly weak field and I'm happy to forgive his last run.

Expect him to be too good in this.

Sandown Hillside Race 7 Tip #9 Joan’s A Jett $13.00

The Kavanagh trained filly caught my eye during a jump out at Flemington late last year.

I suspect that the stable were deliberately trying to hide her ability on that occasion, as she galloped behind some talented types with ease.

She then came out on debut and won over 1100m at Seymour.

That maiden turned out to be a decent form-line, with six subsequent winners coming from that race.

Her second-up effort at Caulfield over 1440m was sound, where she ran through the line well to finish fourth.

That run suggests she has plenty of upside and will be well suited at the 1300m here first-up.

I think she can go through the grades this prep and the appointment of Craig Williams tells me they are looking to get things off to a flyer.

Sandown Hillside Race 2 Tip #1 Kyzamba $6.00

This ultra-consistent mare ran well first-up, when finishing a narrow 0.5 length second over this track and distance.

She has since trialled between runs to keep her ticking over, and now looks set to improve on an already impressive second-up record of three wins and a second from four starts.

Another stat well in her favour is her record over 1000m, where she has five wins and four seconds from 15 starts.

There is no doubting she is a specialist over the short trip and will be well suited once again here.

The drop back in grade from a BM84 against the boys to a BM70 against her own sex is a huge plus and although she goes up significantly in weight, it is well deserved.

The 3kg claim for apprentice Lewis German is a positive and he has already combined with the mare for a win from one ride.

Expect German to push forward from barrier seven and hold an on-pace position.

From there, the mare should prove far too strong over the concluding stages.
