Warwick Farm tips for 16 May 2018

Top tips for midweek racing at Warwick Farm by Josh Reed
Steve HartWe're back at Warwick Farm on Wednesday with sunshine forecast in Sydney likely to see the track remain in the Good range. The rail is out 3m the entire circuit which should favour on-pace runners, with inside barriers a positive. Look for them to be running down the middle of the straight as the meeting progresses.
Warwick Farm Race 1 Tip: #1 Cormac
The Chris Waller runner was only fair last start when he fought his stablemate all the way up the straight. The gelding by All Too Hard missed the kick from his wide barrier and did quite a lot of work to sit up near the front. He was then granted permission to roll along and come off the bit quite early. All this work throughout the race tolled in the final stages.
With only a small field to take on and a better draw, expect him to stalk the lead and be let go about 500m out. James McDonald is returning after 18 months away and is itching to be out there riding competitively. Expect this gelding and McDonald to come away with the win here.
Cormac is currently $1.85 fixed odds.
Warwick Farm Race 2 Tip: Best Bet #5 Press Box
Chris Waller is set to for a day out. Press Box, the half-sister to Press Statement, will look to make a huge impression on this race after being hampered last start when going into the turn, forcing her off-balance and to run wide. Taking into account the margin she went down in that race, she should be undefeated coming into this one.
This two-year-old filly possesses the pace to be able to cross these runners with ease. With the lack of speed here, she'll likely end up out front and prove too hard to run down.
Press Box is currently $2.60 fixed odds.
Warwick Farm Race 3 Tip: #8 Devil’s Lair
This Pierro colt was admirable without luck in his last start at Canterbury. Unable to get a run the length of the straight, he managed to finish within a length of the winner and no doubt would be three wins in-a-row had he found some room.
Stepping up in distance isn’t going to worry this guy and with Kerrin McEvoy taking the reins and a better draw, he should go very close to winning this.
Devil’s Lair is currently $5.00 fixed odds.
Warwick Farm Race 4 Tip: Best Each Way #12 Tunero
If you like Cormac in the first, you have to back this gelding out of Teofilo. Last start he ran down his stablemate as the $1.65 favourite carrying a big weight, which indicates that he has some staying ability. Two starts back he finished within a length of Queensland Oaks favourite Youngstar.
He drops back 2kg from his last start and will be very fit now in his third-up run this preparation. From the draw, expect him to be getting the nice run into the race and with clear running in the straight, he'll give a great show.
Tunero is currently $6.00 fixed odds win and $2.25 fixed odds place, so splitting the units evenly is recommended.
Warwick Farm Race 6 Tip: Next Best #5 Medovina
Godolphin have a nice filly here out of Exceed and Excel. She was very impressive in her last start victory at Kembla Grange when she found clear running and quickened smartly to easily run down the leader.
With race fitness on her side and a decent draw, Blake Shinn should be able to get this filly in a nice position to fly over the top of these late.
Medovina is currently $3.90 fixed odds.
