Best Bets from Rick Morris

Tuesday's best bets head to the Victorian Goldfields region of Bendigo this week, for a strong eight race card.

The track is currently rated a Good 4, with the rail out 4 metres the entire circuit.

At this set up, all runners will get their chance down the long 420m straight.

Bendigo Race 4 Tip #8 Aquilo $3.60

This son of Frankel impressed first-up on a Good 4, running 1.35 lengths fourth over 1600m.

Second-up he stretched out to the 2000m on a Heavy 8 and finished off strongly, running 1.25 lengths second at Ballarat.

His effort on the rain affected surface that day indicates this step up to 2400m on a dry track will be ideal.

Now third-up, he's reaching peak fitness and is ready to produce a career best run.

Dean Yendall retains the ride and will look to take up a position off the speed midfield.

He'll be doing his best work late and if he can reproduce his powerful finish over this longer journey, he'll be very hard to beat.

Bendigo Race 5 Tip #4 Okay To Pay $2.80

This talented filly backed up her maiden win with an excellent effort in BM64 grade last start.

She chased very hard over the Cranbourne 1000m, making good ground on the winner Frederick The Dane with a 3.75 length gap back to third.

She's third-up now and looks cherry ripe for the step up to the 1100m here.

Dropping back to her own sex is a big plus and from barrier 3, she'll sit on speed and get every possible chance.

She's been well supported in early markets and looks the good thing of the day.
