Sha Tin hosts a cracking 10 race card on Easter Monday, with the action to take place on the “B+2” course.
There are two Group 2 events today. The first is the Chairman’s Trophy which features a field of 6 including Waikuku, who is seeking a back-to-back wins after his Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup victory.
The other is the Sprint Cup which will see several up and coming 4YO's battle it out over 1200m. Notable horses include Wellington, Sky Field and Winning Dreamer, who are all expected to perform well.
It will be cloudy on Monday in Hong Kong, whilst the track will be rated Good.
Sha Tin Race 6 #1 Super Winner $1.80
Super Winner is in good form currently and is a last start winner over the same course and distance.
Despite drawing a wide gate that clash, the horse was able to show good speed and lead all the way under Joao Moreira to score by 3 lengths.
Although he has to carry the top weight today, he's proven his class after winning in higher grade and can handle the impost.
Remaining in Class 4 and drawing the rail are both huge ticks, especially with Moreira staying aboard.
He can continue his winning form today.
Sha Tin Race 9 #3 Wellington $2.50
Wellington is racing consistently and has scored 3 winners and a second from 4 starts this season.
Last time out, he won impressively over the same course and distance under Alexis Badel.
Desoute only carrying 113 pounds that day, his finishing time of 1.07.8 equalled the class record time set by star galloper Sacred Kingdom in 2017.
The wide gate shouldn't pose an issue for gun jockey Alexis Badel and I expect him to be ridden how he jumps.
He's been doing well in his recent trackwork and he looks primed to win his first group race.
