Warwick Farm tips 11 April 2018

Best bets for midweek racing at Warwick Farm by Joshua Reed
Steve HartSydney mid-week racing heads to Warwick Farm on Wednesday, a meeting which will be used to launch some of Sydney’s stars in preparation for the upcoming Brisbane Winter Carnival. Sunshine is forecast for the remainder of the week which will see the track racing in the Good range. With the rail position out 5m from the 1000m to the winning post and out 3m the remainder, expect most winners to come from on-the-pace.
The Early Play
Race 1 #8 Colombina
This two-year-old filly was luckless last start here two weeks ago, after being crowded at the 600m mark and then tightened again when trying to make a run at the 200m. She would have finished a lot closer had her momentum not been halted, in what was a forgive run where she finished behind promising galloper Pure Elation. The James Cummings trained filly will be fitter for the run and from the wide barrier she shouldn’t encounter any interference.
Colombina is currently $5.50 fixed odds.
Best Each Way Bet
Race 5 # 5 Art of Excellence
The Warwick Farm stable of Turner and Poletti have a good record running their horses on their home track. Last start this five-year-old gelding was tough as nails, sitting on pace before getting beaten by the backmarkers who found the best part of the track. That run carries a lot of merit considering his tough going that day. A slight drop in grade here suits and with a strong second-up record of four starts for one win and three placings, Art of Excellence is an each-way special.
Art of Excellence is currently $6.50 for the win and $2.45 for the place on fixed odds.
Best Bet
Race 6 # 3 Marsupial
This Godolphin gelding has been gallant in defeat both starts this preparation. Last start on a heavy track he fought it out with the joint favourite, which saw both runners clear out 2.5 lengths in front of the rest of the field. The start before he was first-up behind talented filly I Am Excited who has subsequently won two listed races on the trot. Coming through that form-line and back onto a dry surface, he should be winning this one easy.
Marsupial is currently $1.95 fixed odds.
The Get Out Bet
Race 8 #5 Resin
Godolphin have a strong hand throughout the day and look to end on a high with this talented filly. She was absolutely dominant two starts ago in maiden company before hanging on last start in a tough race, which would have her fitness at a peak now. Should go forward off the outside barrier and with luck in the run, will be hard to run down.
Resin is currently $2.50 fixed odds.
