9/3/19 Horse Racing Tips at Flemington
Pace to play a big part at Flemington
AAPPunters are spoilt at Flemington on Saturday, with plenty of stakes level racing highlighted by the two big Group 1's, The Newmarket Handicap and Australian Cup.
Betting markets are wide open across the card with the exception of a short priced favourite in the Australian Cup, and punters will be well rewarded for their winning selections across most races.
Pace appears a heightened factor in all races and speed maps should be carefully considered when choosing selections.
Race 5 Sires Produce (2yo Group 2) 1400m
The high class 2yo's who are looking for further will engage here, in a race that appears devoid of any genuine speed.
Fling (8) and La Tene (9) are the two most likely to take up the running, with the latter a last start winner at Sandown when leading.
Hawker Hurricane (13) comes straight out of the Blue Diamond Stakes and looks the class runner. He is drawn a touch wide and with the lack of speed, they may choose to ride closer for this.
Of the run-on profiles, Really Discreet (2) is a fascinating runner following her last to first domination at Sandown at her only race start.
She just needs some form of tempo to produce similar again.
I am happy to stick with the run-on profiles from a class angle, even though the speed map works against them.
With a likely tactic change (ridden a touch closer), they should still be in a position to reel in the leaders.
Include She Shao Fly (1) for the shrewd McEvoy yard, who has run-on strongly at her past two starts and appears to be crying out for the extra distance.
Best at odds has to be Outlandos (3). He ran over the 1400m journey last start when finishing a close second, proving that he enjoys the distance.
Best Racing Tips
1st Really Discreet
2nd Hawker Hurricane
3rd She Shao Fly
4th Outlandos

Race 9 Matron Stakes (Group 3) 1600m
The speed looks moderate here with no clear designated leader.
Expect Spanish Reef (7) and I Am a Star (4) to race forward and attempt to take control.
Naantali (3) will get the dream trail just in behind and has been ultra impressive all campaign.
She has placed at all of her past three starts (winning one), and can peel at the right time to collar the leaders.
I Am a Star (4) is the class runner, however looked well below her best group form when well beaten last start.
I'm willing to give her one more chance here in a weaker field than she normally takes on.
Others who map well are I'm a Princess (2) and Pure Scott (1), who will both enjoy econmical runs with cover. The former has excellent form around smart topliners Sikandarabad and Avilius.
Best at odds is Supre (11) who is rock hard fit and can grind away given the right run.
Best Racing Tips
1st Naantali
2nd Spanish Reef
3rd I'm a Princess
4th I Am a Star
