Centre left- the fast lane for straight racing at Flemington
Flemington has been racing fairly of late with winners coming from everywhere in the run. However for straight racing, a view has emerged from riders that the crown of the track is the place to be. The rail comes out 4 meters from last week and due to this change they may revert to being closer to the inside, giving those drawn towards the flat a slight advantage. Look for jockeys to still favour the crown and just inside it.
Race 7 #3 Samavore $2.90
Lands straight in the box seat from gate 1 here, and with little to no pressure, will just peel out and win. Loved the early market SP profile last start, where there was some interest for her to beat a smart one in Silent Sedition. Although the money dried up late and she got back out when beaten that day, there was enough confidence to suggest she is showing plenty at home.
Enjoys the mile and is somewhat of a distance specialist being 2 from 2 when entered over it. An in form D Oliver to steer is the icing on the cake.
Race 9 #3 Regimen $4.20
Can make a case that she should have won last start, where was desperately unlucky when beaten by the smart Tulip at the Valley (Tulip goes around this week in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes at Randwick).
With the rail out 4 meters on Saturday suspect riders will still favour the crown but also just to the flat side of it, thus it will be a slight advantage to be drawn in closer and she maps beautifully from gate 1, where she can let the speedsters go and sit just in behind them. The trial prior to the good first up run had to be seen to be believed, and whilst it’s her first attempt down the straight, she has plenty of quality to call upon.
