We have 9 race card this Wednesday over the Happy Valley “C+3” course, a surface which typically favours horses jumping from inside gates.

The weather will be fine in Hong Kong tonight, with the track set to race in the Good range.

John Size trained horses have been in fine form in recent weeks. Last Sunday, Waikuku became his 1300th winner in Hong Kong and at the same time, put him back on top of the Trainer Premiership ahead of Caspar Fownes in second.

Amongst John Size’s 5 horses racing on Wednesday night are Beauty Applause and Scores Of Fun, with both runners now fit and ready to run well.

Caspar Fownes’ has a strong hand, with 8 horses going around tonight including Jazz Steed, Sky Field and Kurpany.

Fownes looks set to retake the premiership lead by the end of the night.

Happy Valley Race 5 Tip #7 Very Sweet Orange $7.50

Very Sweet Orange’s rating continues to drop and now sits at 51.

Although he ran 11 of 12 last time out, he was only beaten by 3.5 lengths.

He drops 1kg for this clash and looks ready to bounce back to form.

He looks far better suited over 1000m given his record over the distance (19:4-2-0) and he is well suited on the C+3 course tonight.

Last Tuesday he had a barrier trial where he performed well and showed good gate speed, before finishing third behind Hot King Prawn by a short margin.

He has drawn gate 6 here and if he jumps well under Tony Piccone, he can lead them all the way.

Happy Valley Race 9 Tip #2 Green Luck $3.80

Green Luck is from the Caspar Fownes stable and will be ridden by his best partner, Joao Moreira.

This 6YO is an expert over this track & distance (14:4-2-2) and is the current course record holder.

He hasn't raced at Happy Valley for 3 months, so I'm happy to forgive his recent poor form and expect him to return to the winner's circle here.

From an ideal barrier 3, he'll be able to sit on-speed for an ideal trip.

He's down in class tonight and can easily bounce back for his first win of this season.
