22/02/20 Horse racing tips from early market movers
Group 1 betting plunge
AAPTagged: Horse Racing Tips, James Beeson
This week’s early market betting action focuses on Silver Slipper Day at Rosehill and a bumper card at Caulfield.
With the big names all returning to the track, the pro punters have been active picking off the mispriced runners in recent weeks.
One that has caught their attention will line up in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate and still looks big odds.
Keep an eye on price movements as we approach race day, with any further moves for the below racing tips to add more confidence.
Caulfield Tips
Express Pass
Was good at Flemington first-up, when he just missed behind a smart one in Excess Funds.
The wraps are big on this colt, which was evident last preparation after he ran in stakes grade including the Caulfield Guineas.
He is ready to explode second-up and can upset the favourite here. Yes.
Greysful Glamour
Arrives first-up for the white-hot Mark Newnham stable and in form rider Tim Clark.
She has been readied for this assignment, with two solid trial hit-outs in Sydney.
The stable must be impressed with her at home to warrant the support in betting.
Acting
The booking of Ben Melham is always an excellent lead, as it generally indicates they will show good intent.
She ran well here first-up behind a smart one in How Womantic and is proven second up (1:1-0-0).
The stable will be highly motivated to perform for high-profile owners Waikato Stud. Plenty of ticks.
Pippie
Was simply unbeatable at the start of last preparation, before going off the boil in her final few starts.
She may just be a gun fresh horse, and if that’s the case you will want to be on her here in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate.
The reports are she is flying at home and she could easily blow these away first-up. Still looks big odds.
Rosehill Tips
White Moss
Should tag the likely leader Irithea here and receive a gun run throughout.
She arrives via a hot form race in the Expressway Stakes, where she finished behind the very smart Standout and Alizee.
This looks much easier and you can expect her to appreciate the drop in class.
Black Magnum
Was very dynamic first-up at Randwick, where he won under the big weight of 61.5kg.
The second-up stats are impressive (3:2-0-0) and the stable are flying.
From the mid draw in barrier 5, look for them to find an ideal position midfield with cover.
Fun Fact
Is coming off a strong win at Randwick, where he was well supported in betting ($5.50 to $4.20) before racing away with it.
They can overcome the outside draw in barrier 12 by using his tactical speed to carve across and lead.
With any mid-race breather, he should be winning. Yes.
Cradle Mountain
Dominated from out in front to win the Carrington Stakes at Randwick last start.
They showed good intent last time out and are likely to use similar tactics here by leading.
He gets genuine on-speed favours for this race and if he receives any cheap mid-race sectionals, I doubt they will be catching him.
