Best early plays from leading tipsters

What a day's racing we have coming up this weekend!

With a huge day at Caulfield featuring eight stakes races and some serious talent running around at Warwick Farm, it should be a cracker.

We are currently racing on a Good 4 at Caulfield, where the rail returns to the true position.

There are some showers forecast for Melbourne over the next 24hrs, so watch for any track downgrades. There was no bias there at all for last week's meeting, so expect another fair surface again on Saturday.

At Warwick Farm we are currently on a Good 4, with overcast conditions predicted for race day.

If the track remains in the Good range, you can expect on-pace runners to hold a slight edge.

Below are my best early plays for Warwick Farm and Caulfield. If you would like to see all of my selections for Saturday's racing, you can access it here

Warwick Farm Race 5 Tip #8 Fiesta $3.90

Looked absolutely airborne in her trials.

Her record of two wins and a third first-up proves that she flies fresh, and she looks to have come back better than ever here.

Look for jockey Glyn Schofield to ride the filly on-speed and from there, she will take some reeling in.

Warwick Farm Race 9 Tip #5 Sondelon $3.30

Was very good first-up running third behind second placed Dealmaker, who'll likely start favourite in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes.

He knocked up over the final 50m on that occasion, but with the run under his belt and a one from one record second-up, the writing is on the wall.

Jockey Tim Clark knows the horse very well, riding him to both his career wins.

Caulfield Race 5 Tip #6 Brazen Brando $8.50

This Brazen Beau colt was very unlucky first-up, putting in a promising run before being held up at a crucial point.

He then flew home in a meeting best split over the final 600m.

With clear running and an extra 100 metres here, he's a genuine winning chance.

Caulfield Race 6 Tip #6 Brooklyn Hustle $4.20

What a debut!

She was simply enormous in her first career start at Mooney Valley in December, absolutely flying home to win by 2L.

Her recent jump out was a beauty, which indicates she's ready to go again.

A repeat of her first-up run here will see her prove too good for these.

A cracking prospect for the Warren stable.

Kembla Grange R4 Tip #4 Carambola $tbc

This four-year-old runner trained by John O’Shea impressed in her first two trials.

The second trial was particularly notable, where she proved too good for Lucky Helmet who has since notched up two wins.

She was then luckless on debut at Newcastle.

The mare was caught three wide the entire trip on that occasion, but stuck on well to finish third behind Frankely Awesome. That runner went on to contest the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes.

Carambola's recent trial leading into this, tells me she hasn’t taken a backwards step.

Look for rider Shaun Guymer to position her with some cover and give the galloper every opportunity to produce a strong finish down the long straight.

Warwick Farm R5 Tip #14 Mizzy $31

Resumes here after jumping well at her last start, but found herself stuck wide early which told late.

Needless to say, this Zoustar filly could find easier races to contest, but I can’t ignore her latest trial.

She hit the ground running in that run, leading all the way to beat home top class horses including Zousain and Happy Clapper.

The most pleasing aspect to that performance was that when Osbourne Bulls levelled up late, she kicked and kept going.

Having something on each-way at the attractive odds.

Kembla Grange Race 7 Tip #1 Pipeline $tbc

The Gerald Ryan trained galloper heads down the freeway in an effort to pick up an elusive win this Saturday and in doing so, drops significantly in class.

His two runs off a long spell haven't been his best, which is to be expected off a 357-day long lay off.

The booking of gun apprentice Billy Owen is a huge plus and with the 3kg claim, the son of Redoute's Choice is well weighted and carrying 60kg.

On current form, he has 2-3 lengths on this field. Add to that the claim with his improving fitness, and he should prove far too strong for this field.
