As NSW summer racing kicks into gear, we turn our attention to Tuncurry and Wagga in a bid to get one up on the bookies early in the week.

Tuncurry is currently rated a Soft 6, with the rail situated in the true position. This track has proven to be a shifty surface in the past, so punters should look for runners who can handle the challenging conditions.

Meanwhile in the Riverina, the Wagga track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is in the true position. Racing will be on the Riverside today and the inside track has a tendency to favour on-pace runners.

Tuncurry Race 1 Tip #2 Essoess $3.90

This son of Choisir impressed last start, when running 2.19 lengths off Glowing Red at Newcastle.

He looks to have taken great improvement from his time in the paddock and a repeat of his last run has him winning today.

The fact he was given only one trial in the lead up to his first-up run suggests he'll continue to make improvement second-up.

The booking of gun jockey Andrew Gibbons is also a fair indication he's set to fire today!

From barrier 7 and with little speed drawn below, I expect Gibbons to settle two pairs back in the running line before producing this pocket rocket on the turn.

He's run well on Soft tracks in the past and if he's improved at all from his first-up effort, he could do a number on these!

Wagga Race 1 Tip #2 Bonvalante $3.80

I'm keen to be with the race-fit Bonvalante in the first.

He's been racing in big fields and looks well suited in this small field of 8, where he can roll forward and sit on top of a moderate tempo.

Gun jockey Blaike McDougall sticks and back on top of the ground today with fitness on his side, the son of Bon Hoffa will give us a huge sight.

The favourite Beaue Belle has had her chance at six starts to date. Look for her to settle behind Bonvalante in the run and given she's not at peak fitness, I'm happy to bet around her today.
