Feature race previews and best bets
AAPPakenham Park plays host to a competitive nine-race card this Saturday, headlined by the Listed Pakenham Cup.
The track is currently rated a Soft 5, with the rail in the true position.
At this set-up, the track should play fair and allow all runners their chance.

Pakenham Race 6 David Bourke Memorial 1200m (Handicap)
Our Luca (5), Written Choice (9) and More Than Exceed (8) will make sure this is a truly run race.
More Than Exceed can improve sharply on his last start failure at Flemington. This gelding will be right on-the-pace and will run the 1200m right out.
Prior to last start, he finished in second place before stringing together two strong wins in Adelaide. He rates on top here.
Written Choice was superb last start at The Valley, going down by the smallest of margins.
1200m probably sees him out, but he should be in the finish once again.
Snitzkraft (10) looks the class here and I expect a strong first-up run. He can certainly fill the placings.
Mark's Race 6 Tips
1st More than Exceed
2nd Written Choice
3rd Snitzkraft
Pakenham Race 7 Pakenham Cup 2500m (Listed)
Runaway (11) looks the likely leader of this staying trip. Midterm (5) and Valac (2) can both hold a forward position.
Carzoff (9) carries top weight with 60kgs here. His last start fourth place behind Kiwia in the Ballarat Cup was full of merit.
He will be running on from back in the field and has found the right race to return to the winner’s circle.
Creedence (10) may not have the same credentials as the more fancied runners in the field, but this gelding is flying.
Down 5.5 kgs on his last start victory over 2600m at Ballarat in a BM78, he has a big chance of going back-to-back.
From barrier ten, he can take a sit midfield before swooping the field and be right in the finish.
Chapada (12) drops 2.5kgs from his last run when Southern France beat him by only 1.85 lengths. He doesn’t win often, as his record of one win from fourteen starts indicates, but he can definitely finish in the placings.
Mark's Race 7 Tips
1st Carzoff
2nd Creedence
3rd Chapada
Pakenham Race 9 Kangaroo Race Handicap 1000m (BM78)
Celtic Blast (8) likes to lead, as does Our Gladiator (11). Big Effort (5) and The Centaurian (6) are others who can also race on the pace and will ensure a fast tempo.
Propelle (4) was ok first-up behind Bold Star at The Valley. Last campaign, she showed a touch of class and has a great turn of foot.
From barrier four, she can sit just off the pace and in the straight use her superior speed to run over the top of them.
Celtic Blast lost no admirers last start at The Valley. This gelding has speed to burn and if left alone in front, will prove very hard to catch.
Wise Hero (13) ran in much stronger races than this last prep. He carries his share of weight with the 61.5kgs, but can certainly fill the placings.
Mark's Race 9 Tips
1st Propelle (Best Bet)
2nd Celtic Blast
3rd Wise Hero
