Michael Gannon previews TheGreatTipOff.com Handicap
AAPGosford hosts the feature NSW midweek race meet on Wednesday, with a seven race card giving punters plenty to ponder.
Warm conditions are predicted on the NSW central coast, with the track currently rated a Good 4 and the rail out 3m the entire circuit.
All eyes in theGreatTipOff.com office will be on race three, which will see a field of seven lightly raced horses line-up in search for a first career win.
Race 3 THEGREATTIPOFF.COM HANDICAP 1100m (3 Starts or less, Maiden)
Speed Map
Matowatakpe has plenty of early speed and should lead them up with ease.
Radiant Cut showed good early toe in a recent trial and from barrier seven, will need to be ridden positively or risk being caught three-wide. He looks likely to sit outside the leader.
Snitzify can make use of the inside barrier and looks likely to settle on the rail behind the leader.
Stablemate Crimlet showed early speed at her first-career-start. From the wide barrier, she looks likely to follow Radian Cut across to sit fourth in the running line.
Race Analysis
Crimlet (8) showed good early speed at her first-race start to sit on the rails behind the leaders over 1200m at this track. She was then forced four-wide to find clear air, before peaking on her run at the 100m mark.
The winner of that race, Instant Attraction, franked that form by running a strong second at Canterbury in a BM 70 last Friday night. The drop back to 1100m is a huge tick as is the booking of gun jockey Tim Clark, which suggests that the filly is the pick from the two Snowden runners.
Matowatakpe (2) has shown plenty of raw ability leading twice over 1000m. His racing manners are a concern and if he’s sorted them out, he could prove impossible to run down. Stable jockey Brandon Lerena sticks and from barrier two, he’ll look to make every post a winner.
Snitzify (1) jumped as a $21 chance last start and after being caught wide throughout, he ran on well for third. The form from that race looks mediocre and it's fair to suggest she’s the second stringer from the Snowden yard. He gets the soft run from the inside draw and can fill a place.
Radiant Cut (7) showed early toe in a recent Rosehill trial, winning in nice style. She faces the challenging task of coming to the races off one trial and will need to use some gas from a wide barrier. The filly finds a race with some depth and will have to be above average to win. Watch betting late for a guide on her chances.
