Happy Valley hosts a big 10-race card this afternoon, with the action taking place on the "A" course. Typically horses from inside gates and those with on-pace racing patterns are well suited.
It has been dry and sunny in Hong Kong since the beginning of November, which ensures the going will be Good to Firm on Sunday.
Joao Moreira, Jerry Chau and Matthew Chadwick are suspended from this meeting.
The highlight of the card is Race 10 over 1200m, where we'll see up and coming horses Good Luck Friend, Highland Fortune, All In Mind and Green Aeon engaged in a strong battle.
Three ex Australian gallopers will make their Hong Kong debut this afternoon. Ima Single Man and Man Star line-up in Race 8, whilst Wine And Wine appears in Race 9. Each of these horses have had good preparations following their arrivals here.
Happy Valley Race 3 Tip #6 My Ecstatic $3.00
My Ecstatic has had a good preparation since starting training in July and, with three trials in readiness for this.
His recent trial on 17 October over the Happy Valley 1200m was impressive. In that work-out, he settled in the midfield and then dashed well in the final 200m to win.
This All Too Hard four-year-old is the full brother to Australian galloper The Diamond, who is a winner at Sunshine Coast over 1000m.
Both the pedigree and preparation of My Ecstatic suggest that he is able to win on debut.
The booking of Zac Purton suggests he has a huge chance to win in this weak field.
Happy Valley Race 7 Tip #4 Sacred Ibis $3.00
Sacred Ibis has been a consistent performer since joining Tony Millard’s yard last season.
Last time out, he was beaten by a short-head over the same course and distance.
He then had a trial on 30 October where he finished well, and that tune-up will have him primed for a big performance today.
After a series of intense track work-outs, the horse has gained 21 pounds from his last start. This is a good sign that he is much stronger now.
Alexis Badel is on board again and he knows the horse well and can win on Sunday.
