Money-Rider set to go

The early money is flowing again this week and we have identified a number of key chances on both major metropolitan race-cards.

At Moonee Valley, punters have locked onto a Maher/Eustace special which has the all-important booking of “money rider” Ben Melham.

Whilst at Rosehill, a potential three-year-old Magic Millions chance is being tested to see exactly where she is at.

Moonee Valley Tips

The Valley Tips

Murganella

Has won his past two starts in impressive fashion and now deserves his chance in city grade.

At his latest he travelled very wide at Geelong, yet was still far too good for them when drawing away.

He just needs a touch of luck to slot in from the wide draw (barrier 14) to be fighting out the finish.

Pres De Toi

Is the subject of a longer priced move after running well in the Donald Cup (2 of 11) behind the smart Vungers.

She is now rock hard fit and has won twice this prep, which appears to be giving punters plenty of confidence in early betting.

Expect from gate 7, they can blend into the race well and still have clean air to be charging late.

Prezado

Has a touch of quality and arrives first-up (6: 0-4-0) when he usually runs well.

From gate 1, he can punch up along the inside for the entire trip before darting through late.

Jamie Kah knows the horse well and is the perfect patient rider for this speed map, where she will be looking to take the gaps as they present.

Overkill

The booking of Ben Melham indicates they will be showing good intent here and that the horse is ready to win again.

He has the perfect second-up record (2:2-0-0), and loves Moonee Valley (2:2-0-0).

This race lacks depth and I expect him to take full advantage. With “money-rider” Melham engaged, this looks a great bet.

Rosehill Tips

Rosehill Tips

Hunnan

Was heavily backed ($6 into $3.60) to win at this track and distance last start, before finishing last after never really getting into the race.

I am willing to forgive the last start failure and trust the strong SP profile, which suggests he is very smart.

Blinkers are also applied for the first time and that is likely to make the horse much sharper on this occasion.

Promotions

Is from the powerful Godolphin yard, who usually present them at the races in great order.

He was well supported in betting at his past two and is clearly showing the stable plenty at home.

Gun rider J Mac is a significant upgrade from recent jockeys who have ridden the horse, and should prove the difference. Yes.

Lady Banff

Is from the shrewd Mathew Dunn yard and this looks to be the kick off run for the rich three-year-old Magic Millions race.

I expect them to show intent here, in an attempt to gain a good guide as to whether a trip north to the Gold Coast is worthwhile.

There is chatter the horse is flying. Watch for another firm in betting late.

Laure Me In

Has already won twice this preparation, including the last start effort where he hit the line hard at Newcastle.

I expect them to adopt similar tactics here and find cover early, before charging home over the top late.

With a good base of fitness, the step up to 2000m appears ideal and he should be one of the strongest late.
